...and it's no where near being finished. This building is just insane. It will be about a half mile high when completed (2600ft expected). The US has some tall buildings coming as well such as the Fordham Spire in Chicago and the Freedom Tower in New York. Nothing this tall though.

Insane is right - maybe just my small town mentality, but I just don't get the allure of this type of thing. I see going up in places where you literally have no way of going out any longer - but I sure wouldn't want to be to far off ol' Terra Firma as a usual part of my work week or home address.
Cool engineering anyhow.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

they have to build it that tall in dubai since it will be on sand and by the time it sinks into the sand it will only be about 150 feet tall. LOL Dubai actually is doing everything it can to set up for tourism since their oil reserves are going to run out by 2015 I think and when it does they realized they needed to have the infrastructure in place to draw huge money tourism into their country. The even have buily huge islands with home and such on them and even the worlds largest indoor snow ski slope amoungst other things

and after a long days work just go to the top and sky dive down into the parting lot or maybe in to your e30 james bond style8), if you got a cabby. if not, have your sun roof open and if your skinny enough, slide right on in.

How can you say that you want thousands of innocent people to die like that? Assholes like you (I tried to remain from name-calling, but I just can't help myself because that's what you are, a fucking asshole.) are part of the reason why the rest of the world hates us.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you know NO middle-eastern people at all. In fact, I'm willing to bet money. FYL.
