    Cruise packages (not spam)

I plan on going on a cruise sometime in january with my girlfriend. Anybody have any suggestions on any specific cruise lines or trips to take?

I was planning on a caribbean cruise that could depart from florida somewhere. about 7 nights.

    Anybody have any idea?

how old are you? Carnival Cruise Lines are geared more for the younger crowd while Royal Caribbean is more grown up feeling or more family based. RC would be my choice if I were to take a trip. Good luck and have fun!

      Frank,
Are you dead set on a cruise?

I just got back from my Honeymoon.

We went to Jamaica, stayed at a Sandals resort in Ochos Rios.
All inclusive, right on the ocean.
It was a blast, great food, free beer and booze.
Just stay at the resort, there are plenty of things to do there. Booze cruises, learn how to windsurf, sail, kayak, etc.
Lots of cool tours you can go on!
Just a thought, it was very very affordable and was a blast!

yeah, Adam, i'm not set on a cruise completely, how much and for how long was your vacation?

Cruises just sound alot of fun. I'm 24, so i figure i can still kick it with the younger crowd (wow, maybe i am getting old...)

I haven't been on a cruise, but I've stayed at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, and I couldn't imagine having a better time.

the thing about cruises is the food is plentiful but somewhat generic. i prefer going somewhere where i dont have a schedule. when you hit a port on a cruise you have X number of hours to do your thing and be back. then youre spending money on food when you could eat for free onboard. cruising is fun and everyone should try it. i also dont like all inclusive deals because you know the food will suck and youre locked in.

this is no bullshit. once on royal caribbean i ate 7 main lobsters. the first 3 meals i ate the side dishes as well. then i quit and just started eating the lobsters. my kids were with and were humiliated but the waiter just kept bringing them. the last 2 i ate with no butter because i was starting to get sick from too much butter. i felt like shit afterwards though

Nothing is better than feeling awful after eating your favorite foods because when you finally take a dump you feel all better again.

I have been on Carnival a few times and every trip was GREAT. Make sure you exchange your money before you get to the ship. They know that American tourists are stupid and they gladly take our American money in Mexico and Jamaica and give you change in THEIR money. Something like a beach towel that costs $15 in the US also costs $15 in mexico in american money. But if you have pesos, you can get stuff for what it costs in their economic system

The sad thing is that the American dollar is about at its lowest point since the great depression. It might be a good thing to take the other money. It might be worth more!

I did Carnival too, I was slightly jaded beforehand, but I had a great time & would go that way again, no hesitation.

Any itinerary that includes Jamaica I'd be less enthusiastic about. The Bahamas & Cozumel both rocked, but the view I got of Jamaica was that it's a grubby little island, and the locals prey on the cruise boats more than the other places. No specific event happened, just an overall experience there. It's like the Tiajuana of the stops on the cruise line. Good for buying imitation Cuban cigars & lame trinkets, but I'd sooner take another trip that spent more time in Cozumel than time in Jamaica.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

^^^ you hit that right on the head. Jamaica does suck and unless your from there, or staying at a private resort its really not worth it. Jamaica is a dangerous place if you get off the beaten path!

So is Wayzata- there are middle aged mullet wearing guys who carry fuzzy little white dogs around and try to get you to spend the night with them in their "guest" room.........

I'd never take a cruise to Wayzata, that's for sure.
