Ive got a Tamiya TL-01 chassis with Estoril Blue painted e36 M3 body if you wanna buy it. I think ive even still got the ESC, and motor.

TL-01 is really oldschool, but you can do tons of mods to them.

Get something that can go anywhere. The RC 1/10 street cars are fun but seem to break much easier and are limited to certain surfaces.

We have a blast with my HPI Savage X and Traxxas Revo.. though between the 2 the Savage X is much more reliable. I've put it through all kinds of hell and only had to replace 1 A arm and 3 plastic spur gears. The 4.1 Nitro Star starts everytime within seconds and I've never had it overheat.

The Traxxas Revo seems to break everytime you jump it and their transmissions are shitboxes.

I have a HPI gas nitro car, and yes, it is broken, and yes, I have stuffed well over 1000 into it, just so it can sit broken in a box.

but yeah, it is fun--when its not broke.

I would suggest a nitro truck! My RS4pro M3thing is too low, and I imagine a truck would be alot more fun, cause you can drive it anywhere.

I had the RC-10 TA Cabon fiber when it first came out, a Kyosho 911 painted to mach a Polizi 911, a truck (first one and not sure which brand, hobby store not Tyco type), a road car CF pan with the solid rear axle (don't remember brand), and a RS4 Pro SS w/ e39 m5 body. The RS4 I sold while deployed to Iraq, because it was just sitting and I never seemed to have time for it when home. I'll be going with an electric this time for ease of use and cost, no point dropping $300+ on some thing you use once a month if that.

Well, let me say I've owned a Rustler, RC-10, 4-Tec, a pan car (forget what model, it was a CF Team Associated), and a couple other cars and I always had the most fun with the 4-Tec.

I'm not looking to get into something very expensive because I realize I won't use it all that much, that's why I am looking at the Tamiya kits, because they are cheap. The HPI Spring 2 is only about $30-40 more though, and is a lot more adjustable and has some better parts than the basic Tamiya kits.

Depends on how much you want to spend.

Personally, I have a Traxxas 4-Tec that I love, and would recommend for a middle class car.

If you want something more high end (read: expensive), I'd go with an Associated TC series. Pretty much the best there is. Tons of aftermarket upgrades and some amazing features right out of the box.

The Tamiya M3 isn't a bad car, but it comes with a slow motor, not a very good speed controller and not a lot of adjustability. There are upgrades for it, but in stock form, they are pretty boring. You can buy the body separate from Tamiya, so don't buy this car just because it's an M3.

I had an HPI Nitro RS4 for a few years, and then went with a HPI Nitro MT. The trucks are so much more fun. I love speed, and I built the RS4 with a .15SS engine, 2 speed trans, etc... but it was nothing compared to the fun I had with a truck. And I would never go electric. Nitro is worth the extra hassle. In my experience HPI had the best prices, quality, customer service, and availability of hop up parts.

I want that Tamiya E30 M3 kit! Next time I see it I'm buying it. Upgrade the motor to a 19 turn or so and a good battery and it'll be faster. For on road I currently have a somewhat hopped up HPI micro RS4 with an E46 M3 and a 360 Modena bodies. Those things are fast! It's not the same scale as what you're looking for, smaller. However they do make HPI RS4 in the bigger size. It's nice; all wheel drive, belt driven, tons of hop ups available as well as bodies. I also have a Losi Mini-T (miniture stadium truck)and a Losi XX-4 (buggy) All are fun. The best would be if I could find an E30 325i body for my RS4. Then I could make a replica model of my car. (same paint, wheels...) towerhobby.com is a great place to find most anything you're looking for.

Edit: I forgot to mention that my micro RS4 keeps up with some friends 1/10th. They're awesome. If you're looking for strictly indoor use, check them out. I don't run mine outside much anymore; had an issue with a few pebbles once that wasn't pretty. Pretty much new looking parking lots only and gym's/indoors now

The tamyia M3 e30 is the one electric that i have, the rest are nitro. The tamiya kit is not too bad out of the box and it isn't really that fast so it won't brake that easy. I'd look at Team Associated, HPI, Traxxas, Yokomo, Tamiya. Tower hobbies is a good site to look at some cars and stuff. or you can get one of the R/C magazines that is out now, I think that there is four of them?

Ive found towerhobbies.com to be pretty good for the tamiya parts and kits.
