What could I realistically get for my computer?

I'm thinking about selling my PC and getting a laptop, so I'm wondering what I could possibly get for my current system (homebuilt). It's nothing mindblowing, and I'm not looking to get top dollar. I just want to know about what it would be worth.

    Windows XP SP2
    Intel D865GLC motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz Hyperthreading CPU
1.0 gig Corsair ValuSelect DDR ram
GeForce 6800 256 MB AGP GPU
Western Digital 30 GB hard drive
    Maxtor 80 GB hard drive
    SoundBlaster 5.1 sound card
    52X CD-RW drive
Dell 19" flat screen CRT monitor
    Logitech mouse
    Microsoft keyboard

Would I be able to get $500 for the whole system? Possibly more?

im no computer whiz but i would check out majorgeeks message board, its a strictly computer board, and then you can compare your prices like normal on ebay and craigslist like i do for car parts.
hope that was of any use haha

I think you'd be lucky to get $500. What is the FSB? What RPM do the hard drives operate at? Did you assemble it yourself? What kind of case? And i'm not familiar with that specific motherboard. Is there anything special about it? Are you including the license for XP, or just the installed version?

I now see you're including the monitor. That changes things. But if it were me, I don't think I'd pay it.

Sucks too since you probably spent a hell of a lot more to assemble it yourself.

I think if you include the monitor you could get that much. Try selling it on Craigslist and list it as a high end gaming PC or something. I am sure you could sucker someone into buying it.

I wouldn't pay that much. Sucks, but thats the way it is. I build my systems to upgrade them as the tech gets better. I pretty much realize that in order to keep having the latest and greatest I have to sell hardware on PC forums usually no longer than a year after they're released in order to make it worth it for anyone.

if you sell it, my laptop is for sale...administrator price too ;-)

hp dv9000t only had it for 6 months and used it for like 3...now it just sits there (bought an apple instead)

good luck selling...i'm sure someone will pay $500 for it

                This is the motherboard:

                http://www.intel.com/products/mother...5glc/index.htm

The drives are 7200 I believe, and I did build it myself. And I am including the licensed copy of XP Pro SP2.

Well, look at what $500 gets you now from Dell and go from there. Your PC specs aren't bad other than HDD sizes and lack of DVD-RW drive.

I'd say you are better off parting it. Possibly get more. for example:

100-125 monitor, 100.00 for the OS, 100.00-150.00 for the mobo & processor, 35.00-50.00 ea if the ram is 2 sticks 75.00-85.00 if one, 50.00-60.00 for the gpu, 15.00-20.00 for the burner, 25.00-35.00 for the soundcard etc.

I just saw a screaming deal on a HP DV6426US core DUO 2.0 machine 649.00 after rebates this thing has it all:

                    Good luck

you can get a Brand New PC with almost the same specs w/ flat monitor for almost the same price ($500). There will be chances that you might be able to sell it for $500 but wont be easy.
