Haha....trust me, being called gay ain't nothing. I remember the slippery slope of espresso machine ownership/upgrade-itis that led me to where I am now. If 7 years ago anyone even told me I would know what a "rosette" was, I'd have called that a real stretch.
But now I find myself trying to pour the damn things, and I just can't get the hang of it.
But if the other guys want to call me a fag, let 'em. I'll still be trying to pour rosettes tomorrow morning.
I still can't get the foan to "push" out to make the "leaves" of the rosette. My results look like I had a epileptic seizure across the cup, then drew a line through the middle.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
Jean - It's cool, you could have really been calling me a fag, and I wouldn't have lost sleep. It's just the intarwebz.
Besides it's not like you called me a 'nerd' (see that other thread?).
--------------------------
Blunt - I'm so gay (Jean was right & didn't know it) I have both an Isomac Millenium & a ECM Giotto. The Isomac is plumbed to the house, the ECM is backup. Mazzer Mini grinder since that's more important than the machine.
If you aren't on www.coffeegeek.com , don't. You will find justification at some point to spend way too much on a machine hanging out over there.
I'd kill to find a good groove to get a good rosette, probably part of my O/C.
I've never used richer than 2% milk, so maybe that's part of it. I used to drink a lot of breves(doc made me quit = high cholesterol), but that was before deciding to try latte art, so I've never tried with 1/2 & 1/2.

You guys are full on coffee geeks! But I wish I had a better machine.:(
A few years ago I thought it would be cool to buy a Miele built in, and I am so not happy with it. Oh well it looks nice in my cabinet, but coffee art? FORGET IT!
