Said she wants to get a bill passed to bail folks out of hot water on their interest only loans.

I feel that if you went into a mortagage that was above your means then sorry suck it up. I don't want to pay higher taxes to bail you out.

I'm with you, but if I was in that situation I'd take every penny. As I get older, I get less idealistic about the way things should be, and vote more on the "will this put more money in my pocket?"

Thankfully I'm not in that situation, in fact, I'm waiting for all these foreclosures to bring the real estate market back down to sanity so a schlep like me can buy a home without overextending.

Too many people thing they "deserve" a 2 or 300k home. In reality that's a lot of cash that takes a decent job to make your mortgage 1/4 - 1/3 of your income. The last couple years, the mortgage industry has encouraged people to buy more house than they can afford, and the retards are signing things like: interest only, 50 year terms, no down, and most common -- variable interest rate loans.

I think the mortgage companies that offer these products are the one's that bore the risk, and will bare the failures.

Can you really bail these people out without paying off their loan for them? I mean if I could wave a magic wand and convert that interest only loan over to a conventional 30-year fixed mortgage at 3%, most of those people in trouble could not afford the monthly payment. I even dare say that if we converted the loan to absolutely NO INTEREST and they pay the principle over the next 40 years, many of them could not afford the payment.

The other part of that is that if you get an interest only loan, its a great deal provided that you pay ALL of your bills on time and don't spend the rest of your disposable income on new cars and extravagent vacations. Because once its time to refinance after the I/O period, you better have good credit and plenty of money in the bank.

i heard about this on the news this morning, it pisses me off to no fucking end!! i have worked a very long time and very hard to get to the point where at 35 i was able to buy a house where i wanted to live (in scottsdale, az), & spent years getting my credit in line and my score up to where i could swing the $400k for my house. if some idiots can't make their payments because they over extended themselves with their purchase...fuck 'em! if they couldn't make their flip in time and it is killing them because no one will buy their house at the $ they think it should or they need to get for it. too fucking bad, you shouldn't have tried to play with the big dogs. if this actually goes through (which i highly doubt) i am going to find out how to qualify (i doubt i will be able to, i am just a single WHITE male, without children, responsable, tax paying, in my thirtys...also known as the screw me over catagory..) and stop paying my mortage and let the gov. pay it for me 'cuz i don't feel like it! i can't stand Hillary, but sadly she will prob get elected as the lessor of 2 evils :roll:

What jobs are you talking about that you can go into unexperianced, no college degree, with a $30 hair cut, and a $100 suit and make $100K a year (I guess I did forget white in there)? Why am I in college? I'm 21, white, male, no debt, etc. Man, I am heading in the wrong direction.


Do you really think we should be bailing people out of stupid loans they got themselves into because their eyes are bigger than their pocketbooks? People need to live within the means that they HAVE. Not they credit they can get, not the inheritance or lawsuit they are "going" to win, and definately not the taxes I have to pay. I am right there with helping people out that need help.
