Ouch, you bought an inspiron? Good luck with that.

I have a dell latitude d420. Sold my desktop to a mac friend so he could play games and code for windows. This laptop is really small, only 3.5lbs with the 9cell (6.5 real world hours) battery in. Just a hair over 3 with the standard 4 hour battery (real world).

THe nice thing about the latitudes and the Thinkpads are the docking solutions. I have a bluetooth desktop and all my extras plugged into a dock that I drop my computer into and it recognizes everything in a few seconds.

It supports two monitors at 1080i but I decided to just get one big one to save desk space. Im replacing those speakers with a USB set since my laptop dosent have a 6 channel sound card.

Anyone want a 5.1 system for $50+ shipping? Works fine, just dont have a card to run it anymore.
    Im now E30less.

Traded my desktop PC for an HP Pavillion dv9000. It's alright... needs more RAM tho.

I like their latitudes but their consumer class is awful. Dunno about the new redesigned XPS machines. I just know that if they want to get the big business $$s from Lenovo their Latitudes cant be heaps of shit.

Although, you cant expect too much from a $500 laptop. Mine was $1500 so I should expect it to be better.

I have a Dell also. I haven't had a bit of problems with it. I love it. I hate having such a small screen tho I think about to buy a desktop with like a 24" monitor. HAHA

Word, I sit there with my dunce cap on when surfing r3v.

Im thinking about converting the guest bedroom into an office. I wanna keep a fouton or something for people to visit but have a place to work. Downside is that 22" LCD is also my TV.

HA! I knew you'd end up getting one.

I got an el cheapo Toshiba Satellite for ~$700 bucks two years ago. Works fine and I've never had to service it once. Running at 2 Gigs of Ram, Intel Centrino processor, and 80GB of hard drive space. It gets the job done.

I've been looking at laptops recently aswell. I think all my family and friend is going to pitch on buying one for my birthday in 2 months.

I'm at a loss on what I should get but it needs to be affordable and have at least a 17" screen. I don't need mine to be fancy, just browse the internet and shit.

at least a 17" screen? Why? Just get something you can actually carry and hook it up to a screen when you want something big.

So I can see it! I still have a decent home system with a 21" screen or whatever it is.
