My brother is a Fiero NUT CASE he has prolly forgotten more about them than 99% of all enthusiasts ever knew.
Hes got a 86 GT, sitting on original IMSA 2 piece wheels, coil overs, 88 break swap, 5spd swap, and a FUCK LOAD of other shit. Also has a custom built 3.4DOHC swapped and running an HX55 w/ A/W intercooler. The engine grenaded the 1st time he had it up and going. The guy who ground his crank left a couple of journals out of round and high in the middle and it ate the bearings. he got a bit discouraged after that and it has been sitting for a couple of years only working on it here and there. been hard after it lately though chasing a wiring issue, he hopes to have it out and working up a good tune for it by the end of the month.

When dont right they handle better than most anything. Just dont you dare let off mid corner, they are as bad if not worse than a 911 for off throttle snap over steer. Long as you keep your boot in it it will prolly go where you point it. Again GM way ahead of its time and Killed off as a PROFITABLE car because GM Top brass would not let Pontiac engineers build them the way they wanted too, in an effort to try and protect the Vette's, so Pontiac said fuck it and scrapped it just before the 2ed gen was finalized .
