Looks to me like they're using it as a daily, and probably enjoying the shit out of it. Not every M3 has to be put in a bubble and preserved forever. They probably drive the wheels off of it every day, and enjoy every second of it.

Figure some of you guys would appreciate this. Spent the last few weeks building a transmission cross-section for a professor on campus (I get an MEE elective credit hour for this). This is a case from a 90 VW Cabriolet (5 speed) that I blasted, cut, painted, reassembled and did the finish cut painting to match most industry cross-sections. Turned out to be a rather cool project. My friend made the acrylic shift knob, turned and flame polished.

Shift knob looks kind of goofy though.

It does, but that was my friend's idear and I went with it. We made a paper shift pattern and put in a recess at the top of the knob and put epoxy in, so it's a clear knob with the pattern inside. Came out kinda cool and it was free. Win.

Likewise, from the pictures it showed that the owner isn't taking care of it either. But wait, those pictures are so shitty and grainy, right? Are you sure thats what you were seeing?
