    Drinking age

Debate on lower drinking age bubbling up

Over the strong objection of federal safety officials, a quiet movement to lower the legal drinking age to 18 is taking root as advocates argue that teenagers who are allowed to vote and fight for their country should also be able to enjoy a beer or two

if they do that, dui laws should be changed.

something like 18-21 dui - 90 days jail, no work/school release loss of license for 2yrs or more. just paint them the picture of serious business.

Yeah, I think DUI laws should be more harsh for everyone. And this is coming from someone who got a DUI. I was 17, blacked out and went head on in to a phone pole. I got off with a reduced sentence of reckless driving. I know I was a dumb shit, and I feel very lucky, but in reality I should not have escaped so easily.

And I have mixed feelings about drinking age. I know that at 18 I was not responsible enough to be drinking alcohol even though I was. And yes, three years later things have changed significantly.

Then my fake would be useless, Noo.

I like the drinking age right where its at, even though I'm not 21. There are too many kids my age that I don't think should be drinking any more than they are now. Lowering the drinking would just make alcohol even easier for highschool kids to get and cause more problems. This would also mean that underage drinking would start 3 years younger. Most kids don't start drinking much until their senior year of high school, with a lower drinking age it would most likely be their freshman year of high school.

I remember when I was 16-17 and the legal age then was 18 and then they changed it to 21 !!! I was pissed but my best friend at the time was a manager of a liquor store so I guess in hindsight it really didn't matter

I allways did find it odd that someone could fight and die for our country but yet couldn't have a beer..

because it doesnt take as much maturity to pull a trigger when someone is shooting back at you as it does TO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE

i dont get the whole big thing about drinking...im 22 and only had dranken some drinks before and it doesnt taste good or make you feel good or anything, i felt the same after several drinks.... most Americans arent mature and capable of making good decisions, thats why its probably 21, so this dont affect me. Everyone i know has already dranken before when they were like 11, 12 etc...and say "its ok as long as you are supervised"...its still breaking the law regardless. I actually get offended when cops think ive been drinking when i go home at night and my eyes are bloodshot (which they always are for some reason) and i tell them alcohol is not part of my life and they want to still do a sobriety test lol. They just assume you drink because everyone else does, you can probably take all the alcohol ive had and put it into about 10 soda cans.
