But the great thing about buying craftsman tools from Sears is that they are guaranteed forever. Every time the light dies on you, take it back and get a new one. You don't need the box or the reciept. Just bring back whatever is left of it and they will replace it on the spot.

That would be awesome, however two thing:

        1) These tool are intended for th ehobby or garage (home) light mechanic work, not mechanic shopp where the tool are abused so the warranty won't be applicable (correct me if I0m wrong).

2)Well, that just me...and my bad luck, I'm out of USA so I cannot go just like that to replace my work lights if they fail...lol

They would not honor that for me on their wet/dry shop vacs years ago when I would wear one out... They told me if was for the craftsman hand tools only but this was 10 years ago too

I think you are right- Anything that I ever took back was either a hand tool or a power tool. But I never tried that with drill bits or any other consumables. And then sometimes they just want to be a dick about it. Typically retail stores don't take the hit on returned merchandise for most things but the manager on duty may decide that the customer is abusing the return policy and will deny the exchange just on the principle of the matter.

Yes, you are right but you might be able to get away with it if it does not look like its been used and abused.

They gave my buddy a hard time over a lawnmower that he bought there. He started a landscaping busienss and on the first day that he bought the mower new, he cut 8 lawns with it and then the next day did 4 more. Within a week, that mower looked like it had been through hell. They told him the same thing you just said- It only applies if you are using the mower for home use. He was like, "What the hell does that have to do with anything!? It says '2 year warrenty' and I want a new mower!" and after much griping, they gave in and gave him a new mower.

Yep - that's the policy. That's why they have that new-ish deal where you pay extra for "insurance" on moving part tools.

Total crap, I'll still buy their hand tools as they are easier for me to deal with than find a Snap-On truck, but if it's anything more than a hand tool it's worth trying to find a alternate tool.

I hear the policy is so weak @ Sears that someone on the Toyota Landcruiser forum had refused the extras insurance, and the power tool was defective, but without the extra insurance they wouldn't even take it back - so Sears is super weak sauce these days.

IIRC, the tool he bought needed some assembly at home, so unless he assembled it in the store, he wouldn't have been able to return it after refusing the additional insurance.

You'd thing there would be a common sense "30 day" or so policy to return tools for just this kind of scenario, but not for that fella, so he wrote about it on the Internet & he's now boycotting Sears.

Ask all questions at the register BEFORE you hand over your debit card, and get their policy in writing to avoid this. Never give Sears the benefit of the doubt, they have gone downhill since Kmart bought them.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

I think part of the problem has to do with inexperienced managers who do not know how to deal with people who abuse return policies. Because of this they treat EVERYONE like an abuser. It used to be that the manager of a retail store had 10 to 15+ years experience under his belt and in that time and he has heard just about every story and seen every single trick to be able to look a customer in his eyes and know whether or not he is an honest customer with a justified complaint or if he is just some schmuck trying to get over.

I buy my DeWalt screwguns at Sears and I buy the extended warranty, then I return them (often wearing a Loud & Clear T shirt) every few months.

8 or so new guns in 6 years...being nice helps a bunch.

Diego, I looked today. The lights I buy at WalMart are the SL-507, made by Bayco. I pay about $7 each, they are 13 watt bulbs (Phillips PLII style) and have a 2 meter cord. This page shows them: http://www.budgetlighting.com/store/...wl&xm=on&ppinc

                    Hope this helps.

Thanks a bunch Luke, however I think those are 120v operating range only :( and we have 220v out put over here. It doesn't say the operating voltage but scroll downa bit and they offer a bulb replacement that use 120v, so I guess only works with 120v ?

Something like those nice work lights with autorange of 120-240v would be the shit!

                        No worries, D.

Just hook two of them together!

Or, go check at WalMart. If you don't have one in Lima, you will soon.

At least in Peru we have all 220v setup, and I think most parts of South Amercia run 220 as well...I think Europe too.
