    Ripping Pandora

I FINALLY got the pandora ripper to work. So I thought I would share if you guys wanna do it.

If you don't know www.pandora.com is a music site. Its awesome, you type in the name of a band you like then it finds new bands and songs and just streams them over your computer. You can then find new bands or songs you didn't know of etc...

Problem is you can't save the songs anywhere.

    Hes how you save them

    Requirements:
    XP
    Firefox
    Java

    First, install this firefox plugin

Its a flash switcher, you need to switch to flash player 8 for this to work. 9 WILL NOT WORK.

    Heres some info on it

Once its installed, on the bottom right corner of firefox you will see the flash player icon. Click it and then from the menu it brings up select "Flash 8.0 rc24"

    Download and install this:

DO NOT SKIP THE INFORMATION SCREEN. It has 1 other thing you have to do

This is what you have to do:

firefox has to be closed while doing this)

    Step 1: Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox

Step 2: Right click on a file named pluginreg.dat

    Step 3: open with notepad

    Step 4: Press Ctrl + F

Step 5: type in the word "flash" then press enter

you will see a line named(example)
    Code:
    $
    Shockwave Flash 8.0 xxx R22|$
    Shockwave Flash|$
    2
    0|application/x-shockwave-flash|Macromedia Flash movie|swf|$

    Step 6: locate the 8.0 xxx R22

    Step 7: replace the 8.0 xxx R22

    with

    9.0.21 d55

    then save changes and close

Then you can launch the pandora program and it will tag and save every song you listen to.

Pretty damn slick if you ask me. I have had it going for about 24 hours and I have about 180 songs now. I would say about 85% of the stuff I get is good, and 70% of the bands I have not heard of before.

Just thought I would share if anyone is a music whore like me.

Damn nice little trick, I had always wondered if there was a way to do this. I listen to Pandora all day at work.

    Thanks

excellent. i love pandora. sometimes it plays stuff that really sucks, but it definately makes up for it in the good stuff i hear from bands i never knew of.

what bitrate does it rip at... at least 128 i hope. isn't that what pandora uses?

192 sounds better, but yes it is 128 which is acceptable by me. If I find a band it really really like I just download their CD anyways, which is always 192+ or VBR
