Dell: Order Cancelled, refunded... Still Shipped

Keep the computer. The "right" thing to do would be to send it back but they will give you a hard time about it. I orded a desktop with a flat panel and ended up getting a laptop along with the desktop. Like an idiot, I called them up to see if they can send me a pre-paid shipping box so that I can return it.

2 hours and 4 Indians later they explained to me that if I sent the computer back, they would have had to charge me for repairing it. "..Oh, that's OK. I guess I will keep it," was my reply.

They will write it off as a loss at the end of the year even though it probably doesn't cost them hardly anything to built it. It probably costs dell more to ship it than it does to build it. When I worked in the IT industry we would get all kinds of stuff from CDW that we didn't order and nobody would ever come looking for it. There was even stuff that was ordered incorrectly that CDW never charged us for. They would immediately refund the cost of the wrong item, ship the right item the next day and they would never ask for the other stuff back.

Well, crap, I shoulda tried that. My brand spankin' new XPS M1710 would look a heck of a lot better if it didn't cost me anything... :(

i would sit on it for a couple months unopened. make sure you dont get rebilled. then use it or sell it. its wrong but id still do it

take your money and switch it into another account. Close the account you hooked them up too. Enjoy for a while and then sell.

So I called, talked to some arab (yes, offense intended), and after 30 minutes of her heavy accent, and answering my questions with "that is correct", my order was cancelled. So I thought.

Dude, that was an Indian in Bangalore. If you're gonna hate, at least hate the right people. Just be grateful Michael Dell doesn't subscribe to R3V. This thread is evidence of intent to defraud and sell stolen merchandise.
If you are going to continue thinking like this, learn to keep your mouth shut about it.
