The terrible thing about all of that is that so many people are still waiting for help. Yet congress just approved 50 billion dollars for the war.

I know this may seem cold-hearted on my part, but a hurricane is something that just doesn't spring up on you suddenly like any given earthquake out here in Calif. For several days before Katrina made landfall, the citizens in its potential path had lots of time to gather their valuables and get out of dodge to higher ground. I think the whole mess that was left in its wake just sucks and a lot of peoples' lives have been forever changed, but you can't say they didn't know ahead of time.

Plus what do you expect when you build your house below sea level with the water being held back by levees. Any way enough being heartless, yeah it sucks for all the people affected, they gambled and lost.

I worked for one of the companys that built the trailers for FEMA. And we was expecting them to be shipped down there and to be used. But instead they are sitting allover the country not being used. Alot of them are sitting here in Cumberland at the old PPG plant.

i dont know an accurate number for the trailers but its some ungodly number that were built and never transported. i heard a news story where they were trying to sell them off for pennies on the dollar of what we paid for them

I can't remember how many we put out of our plant but it was unreal. Usally it took 25-30min. per station along the line to complete their job on the trailer, it was taking us 12min. at that to do complete a job per station. It is true that they are selling them for very low prices and since the market was flooded with them people are buying them and not the reguler trailers that we built, so with lack of trailers being ordered and gas prices being up a few plants closed and mine was one of them.

I almost don't fucking feel bad for anyone. You built your house in a FLOOD ZONE. Then your all surprised that it flooded. WOW.

Yes you can get a house cheaper because its in a flood zone, and if it floods your fucked, because no one is going to insure a house in a flood zone. Now you want to bills and what have you to raise taxes to buy these fucking idiots a new house? Fuck that. Sucks for you but I don't give a shit. If you want a new house you better fucking rely on your life savings and charity because thats the only way your gonna get it from me.

Just like all the people who build around fault lines and at the bottom of volcanos, tornado alleys, etc... they seem so surprised when shit hits the fan. And nothing is ever covered because you usually can't get insurance, now I gotta pay out of my pocket for you.

At the same time I blame the EAS shit and the warnings. They warn you for EVERYTHING. Does anyone actually ever believe these people? When I am told a tornado is coming at my house I laugh. We are probably "warned" a good 30-50 times a year for this. And the last tornado to touch down and destroy something happened before I was born.

I stopped caring. When I own my house, you will be damn sure its not going to be in a flood zone, tornado, fault line, etc...

Its like the idiots crying when a tornado takes their trailor they bought along tornado alley. And you hear the idiot in the video? "the chances of this happening to me, are like the chances of an avalanche taking my house".... Or not, maybe its like the chances of a levy bursting, and takng your house?

Nagen is a piece of shit. I guess he puts a new meaning to "like chocolate for water"

Maybe you guys can help me out - I did a search and couldn't find it, perhaps I am using the wrong search terms.

At what point did the State of Louisiana and the surrounding states cede their right of self-government to the Federal Government? You know, the part where they have their own legislature, their own laws, their own taxes, their own disaster plans... Exactly when did the Federal Government become responsible for their mistakes?
