I cannot believe it's already been six years!
Jon325i - my story is actually quite similar to yours! BUT, get this - I was there only 2 weeks prior - at the end of August! I'm not sure if anyone on here knows, but OFest was that summer around August I believe, in New Hampshire, and we made a trip out of it - so we stopped in New York and toured the area - statue of libery, and all the fun stuff. Unfortuntely, we didn't go up the WTC due to time constraints, but I SPECIFICALLY remember how MASSIVE the buildings were looking up from the base. They were breathtaking. I stood at the foot of the buildings, and thought to myself, "I'll be back again sometime, and go up then." My whole family agreed we could go up again the next time we were in NY. Who knew that chance would never happen.
9/11/01 I was standing in my library during first period in 9th grade in Woodbury, MN at Lake Junior High School, around 8-9 am after checking out a book. I remember seeing tower 1 on fire - there was no sound and I didn't look long, so I just throught there was a fire and that they would get it taken care of.
I got to my next class, my math class and I found out an airplane had hit it - during that hour in class, the first tower fell. I couldn't believe was I was witnessing. And I could not stop thinking about how I had been there only 2 weeks before. It was so very much real to me, and I was just stunned and in shock.
I'm pretty sure the rest of the day all teachers had TVs on and that's all we did. I remember one teacher no having his TV on, so no one went, and we went somewhere else to watch TV.
That day was probably the most shocking day I've ever experienced. Ironically, my parents had left early that morning for Arizona, for my grandpas funeral - they called when we were home to let us know they had made it safely. There was family going to AZ from New York and they never made it because they had to go home. That day affected everyone in this country in some way or another.
I've never really posted this before, but I made a video back in high school in memory of 9/11. Check it out here: http://electrontek.com/ Includes video I found after much seearching and some very very amazing photos.
I'll never forget, ever.
Where were you on 9/11?
