Standing at the service counter of Jiffy Lube in La Quinta, CA. I was selling an air filter to an older guy in an 1988 Caddy El Dorado. It was a clean car with 30K on it at the time, I remarked how clean the car was, then heard the report on the AM radio in the car. Stopped what I was doing. Clocked out, and went home to my family. Proceded to watch TV for probably the next 20 hours straight in utter dismay.

    Where were you on 9/11?

Everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing on 9/11. I was at home. My mom woke me up to tell me a plane had hit the WTC. I turned the TV on and watched for a few minutes then went to take a shower. When I had gotten out of the shower the second tower had been hit. Then we got in the car to drive to school and we turned the radio on to listen to what was happening. On the way there the first tower collapsed. I think at this point my mom started crying because she is pretty emotional. At school everybody was talking about it of course and I watched the news coverage in little bits throughout the day. Some teachers had it on, others didn't. The last thing I remember about the day is my football coach giving a little speech at the end of practice. I don't remember exactly what he said except something about going after Afghanistan.
