Magnolia is owned by Best Buy. The majority of Magnolia's nowadays are no longer standalone stores and are just a department within Best Buy.

I have gotten some awesome deals from Best Buy because they do have a tendency to allow their teenage employees to make things up as they go along. Coupons on top of discounts on top of a price match -- compounding discounts are a beautiful thing. :)

I've gotten some really sweet deals at circuit city. I just picked up a 51" Hitatchi DLP HD tv for 600 dollars.

Actually Magnolia Audio Video stores are still the same. Best Buy is now using Magnolia's good name to market low end stuff at their stores - they refer to their departments as "Magnolia Home Theater" even though you can't get any of that crap at Magnolia stores.

OH, and FYI about Costco - they changed their electronics return policy :-/... too many people "renting" things for several years.

I liked costo much better when they didn't let just "anyone" have a membership. Now there are screaming babies in there and bratty kids running down the aisles on their skate shoes. It's starting to get out of hand. I am sure that you would have no problem bringing back a broken TV for a new one regardless of how many people abuse the libreral return policy.

Sam's club has a little bit of leinancy as it relates to their returns. My brother-in-law was able to take a 50-inch plasma back after he attempted to mount it on the wall by using plastic anchors in the sheetrock. Each anchor was rated at 40lbs and he figured that 6 would be enough. 2 days later while watching the news, the TV fell on the concrete floor and a big crack went down the middle of the screen. I don't know if they took it back because this is a common occurance or if it was because he was humble and honest.

Best buy actually treated me right when I went back. Lets just say I got a 1080p LG 50'' for less than 500 bucks with a 4 year warranty.

I tell at least one person that every day. Find a custom audio/video shop and buy from them.

One of our customers buys a TV from us, and something gets fucked up with it, we take care of it.

I heard places like sams club will not honor any warranty.
You will have to go through the manufacturer for any warranty related issues.

My wife surprised me and bought a top of the line LG 42" lcd 1080dpi.

It shit the bed after 3weeks, I got back from out honeymoon and the fucker would not turn on. Im like how much f--in money do I have to spend to get a quality TV??!!
I went to best buy, they looked at it for 10min and said Yup, its toast!
Go pick out a new one!

So basically I returned it and exchanged it for a new one.
Didnt take long, expierence was not too bad.

I would suggest calling BB corporate headquarters and bitch your ass off if you haven't already. One of my buddies is a customer care rep and he says that they get like 20 calls a day from utter morons who think everything should be free and they should be refunded their money plus "emotional distress." Seriously when he gets a call from someone with a legitimate issue he usually just says fuck it and sends out a gift card totaling a full refund. I think its worth a shot if you haven't already tried.

I didn't know I was going to get a cheap 50 when this all started.

I wonder what causes plasma TV's to fail prematurely. I have heard all of the warnings about handling it with care and never laying it down flat and all of the other stuff they tell you not to do with a plasma but I managed to break every rule and my TV has lasted me for 2 years now. Could they be cutting corners in the manufacturing process now that the demand is much higher?
