    Uninsured driving ticket

    Not me.
We have a metal bender we hire to do aluminum fabrication work for us (it's nice because he will work in our shop). He got popped for no insurance. His car was impounded but what other penalties or fines might he incur?

As long as he has insurance and can prove it on the court date they'll usually wave it with court costs.

    stl ftw

That's pretty much it. Ticket for uninsured motorist, car gets impounded and can't be released until he has proof of insurance. So: ticket for whatever he was pulled over for + ticket for uninsured motorist + towing fee + impound yard fees + cost to get proof of insurance

hope he didnt get popped for a driving on suspened license too ? That would be harder to get car and/or license back even on a specialized driving permit....

In California you need proof of insurance on the day you were ticketed, or you face 1800.00 in fines, suspension of your license and proof of insurance before the suspension is lifted.

            That's not exactly true.
When I got popped for no insurance, it was like a 700 ticket.
If you go to court and prove you had insurance the day of the ticket, they will wave the fee.
They didn't impound my car or threaten to suspend my license.

In Oregon, you can go in with proof that you had insurance and get it waived possibly. You will still have to pay any towing fees etc though.

If he didnt carry any insurance at the time, the minimum he will get is the base fine, but he could have to also file an sr22 I think they call it now which pretty much means that the DMV will be in constant contact with your insurance company for like 2 years to be sure you dont lapse. Otherwise they suspend your license.

Oh yes, and you can be arrested in Oregon for not having/carrying proof of insurance.

I know a guy who got into an accident with no insurance and driving without a license. he was ticked for no license and no insurance and all he did was get insurance and get his learners permit before he went to court and everything was dropped.

I know a guy too. Lots of them.

Judges get to do all kinds of stuff, and sometimes people get away with murder because it fell in front of a particular judge. This does not change the law however, and the possible consequences of his actions.

didnt have a license to begin with, hence the reason he got a learners permit was what probably got you friend out of charges. However if he got caught with a suspended license that was taken away from a court system this usually is a different matter. If your license has been taken from you in fact you have lost the right and privledge to drive a car and usually have even a harder time trying to get your license back to even drive legally again...and have the need for car insurance.

You had insurance, hence no fine. I said if you will reread my post UNLESS YOU PROVE YOU WERE INSURED AT THE TIME OF THE TICKET.

if he HAD insurance at the time, and can prove it, he should get off. Where is his court appearance, Milwaukie? That judge is way chill.

If he DIDNT have insurance at the time, he is in trouble.

In oregon, you can get cited for not carrying proof, even if you have insurance. And if the judge is a dick, you are gonna pay. A chill judge eh? I wanna meet em! :)

It happened in Canby. He had no insurance coverage when he was pulled over.
I thought you got your license suspended until you showed proof of insurance which was sr22, I think. I know he couldn't pick his rig up without it. Lets see, it happened on 8/31 and he still hasn't picked his Blazer up yet.
$ 200 for the first tow and $ 50 per day storage?? + fines and an sr22. He is fucked and it is fine by me. Except he still needs to finish up 4 fenders, a hood and two side pods for us. sigh.
