So I just broke up with my GF..... rant

Yeah, 1-1/2 years. 3 hr long distance the entirety of the relationship. I told her last weekend I wanted a break, she took it kinda hard. I thought i'd be miserable without her the past week on our "break", but i've been very busy with school/work/friends that I really haven't thought about her as much as I thought I would. So tonight i sealed the deal and i'm officially single.

I hurt her alot tonight, she was crying so much and I felt so bad and started to think of not going through with it, but by that time it was a little too late, the damage had been done. I feel so bad that I hurt such a great girl, but i'm 24, and have alot of experiences left to have and I hopefully will move on and find somebody new...

Well, if you really wanted the break and to experience new things, then that's that. She'll get over it in time, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of other girls to fuck around with. I'm not sure why you'd rant about that though if it was entirely your decision, and she hadn't really done anything to hurt you.

There is no point in staying in a relationship that isn't doing anything for you. I think that long distance relationships are useless unless there is a future plan for either person to relocate.

yeah, you're right e30e, but it still hurts. You always will have some regret either staying or leaving. That's the way it is i guess. Yeah, I know i initiated it, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt me too, especially when the primary reason for breaking up is the distance, nothing really more. She was a great girl and in a way, i feel like i threw it away all because i couldn't do 2 more years of distance.... but could you blame me? 2 more years of holding back from other opportunities to take advantage of while i'm still young?

Make it a goal to date/marry someone close to home. It'll save a lot of travel and money to visit in-laws during the holidays. I told my four sons this. The first one married a girl from the Philippines LOL!!

It's not up to us to blame you even if it is r3vlimited. You sound like you are taking the responsability well. Don't make it about her though whatever you do, this was your decision alone. So don't start asking if we can blame you. I guarantee her friends are placing the blame fully on you. Be prepared to go through this again but for worse reasons. Sometimes a great girl 2 hours away is a million times better than a bitch 20 minutes away. your problem is that you dropped a great girl for who knows? I am sure it will work out and you will be happy, but if you find yourself thinking about your decision, and regretting it, please don't call her and try to get back together. She won't trust you for a very long time.

You guys are ridiculous. I know alot of people in their 30's and 40's who left the love of their life because there may be something better out there - they never found it and now they hate their life. IMO, snag the good ones while they are young before someone else does. By the time you are 30 getting someone without baggage is rough. Primarily because they got dicked around by dudes who wanted to have all the sex they can in their 20's. That's how old fuckers end up hanging out in bars and hitting on chicks that look like a leather handbag.
