they skinned most of my left arm (scar revision) and replaced it with Integra. about 4 weeks in this cast/splint, then regrafting with my right theigh as a doner site most likely. then another 4-6 weeks in a new cast while it heals.

after than 1 more scar revision on my right wrist and fore arm with integra in one spot and a z plasti on the other.

i SHOULD be done by then. i have nerve damage in my right wrist "offically" now. i am pretty sure that there is nothing that can be done to repair that, so i should be declared "stable and stationary" then and start getting my perminate disability $ and enjoy my new status as "disabled" which will help me out getting student loans to go back to pharm school and a new career.

i spent some time the last few weeks helping my friends daughter out with counciling ETC and some extra burn supplies. she was in a bad dirt bike accident and when the bike came to a rest it had given her 2nd degree burns in her arm pit. the bike came to a rest on the back of her neck and she recieved 3rd degree burns on her neck and the back of her head. she went in for surgery a few days before me at the same hospital (she even ended up with the same nurse). talking to her and giving her the heads up helped her out a lot. i've known her since she was a kid too. it does not hurt that she is pretty hot too. ;)
it is nice to help out either way though.

HOW THE HELL do you people eat with your right arm/hand?!?
this not being able to feed myself with my left arm is seriously hampering my large food consumption abilities!

When I broke my right wrist and elbow at the same time, I had a hot little lady cutting my food into fork sized bites. That way, one handed eating can be done, and you can still man-shovel food.

I had jaw surgery about a year ago. Lost 25 pounds because I couldnt physically chew anything. I mean, bread was too much. I ate mashed potatoes and cheese cake for 3 months.

Btw, I remember reading this thread a long time ago. Time flies!

Good pain meds? Or is this pain nothing in comparison to the original healing process?

actually the just switched me from percs to vics at my request.
i can't function very well on percs, they get me high as well as take away the pain.
vics on the other hand just take care of the pain and don't get me high.

even at that, i just take them as i need them for pain, not constantly.

i WILL be taking some as soon as they fill the perscription though as the new bandage/splint is pressing down on some of the staples and it fucking hurts!

as for the pain, it is not as bad as the pain from doing the same thing on the other arm. i guess i am building a pretty good tollerence for pain by now.

i have aslo been going through some issues with the insurance company not approving my antibiotics and i was starting to get the MRSA comming back, but after a trip to the doc, and some IV's and meds i have it in check again.

Yes, I still want it. My DS bolster is pretty much done. Don't strain your injuries, though, I'm not in a huge hurry because I still need to find matching bolster cloth.

One time I was flux core welding something on my friends tractor and a huge thing of slag fell onto my sweat shirt and melted it and I got burned and i thought that was bad..This makes it look like nothing. Thank god you're alive and doing good.

Holy crap man, that's nasty. Glad you're on the road to recovery.

I ended up with permanent nerve damage in my left arm after a sportbike accident in 2002. I had to relearn how to do everything right handed; what a pain in the ass! It will come, but it takes a long time before things are natural. Of course, once your left arm is completely healed it sounds like you'll be able to return to "normal."

                              Good luck to you man!

i have not updated this in a while, had surgery to release the ulna nerve on my left arm on tuesday. 4 hour surgery, it too 2 surgeons working from both sides of my elbow to do it.

he said it was the worst scar adheasion/impaction he had seen in 35 years of being a hand surgeon.

i came home with an IV tree to hang it from and a VAC-U-DRAIN to drain out the blood from the wound. my dog kept attacking the tree thinking it was following me as i drug it around everywhere.

i get the stitches out on monday and a removable splint with more bandages. i will take more pics of the stitches too
