the same people who, when they actually make it out to the track, drive at 5/10th's because they are to afraid of crashing their $50K plus vehicle.

Do you think anyone at Porsche really cares what people said about the Cayenne when it first hit the market? the vehicle that people said sounded a death bell for Porsche single handedly made it the most profitable car company in the world at the time and allowed vehicles such as the Cayman and Carrera GT come to market. Every car company needs a cash cow, and if bringing and M3 sedan to market means more money can be spent on the development of the next one than so be it.

Like the E63 Benz I saw yesterday on bags, the majority of people buy because its the top of line, not because its an extremely capable sports sedan.
Holy shit, a logical post about BMW's made after the E30!

I love it. I think the coupe 3-series is ugly as sin. The M3 is an upgrade, mostly due to it's different styling, but I think the current sedan 3-series look WAY better than the coupes. I'd hit it.

I've never understood why everyone hates on 4 door cars so much. They look a little less sporty, but it's all in how you play it. I think 4 door E36 M3's are hot, too.

You're the only one, apparently. The local dealership is blowing out M Coupes at leases WELL under 500/mo. Nobody's buying them.

As for me, I'd buy the sedan in a minute. I need four doors, and I like the fact that it looks a bit more subdued. If they made a 4-door E46 M3, I'd be buying one of those instead of the ZHP sedan I'm going to pick up.

The new coupes are totally fugly compared to the the 4 doors IMO. I generally like the coupes better as far as the e30-46 but these new ones the back end looks goofy. I really like the new 4 door 3ers...

If they are gonna call that an m3 why don't they just throw an //M badge on everything to make it sell. It sucks that BMW is stooping down to the level of Honda and Chevy with the 4dr civic Si and the 4dr cobalt SS,Even though BMW did it first with the E36.

Yeah, because it doesn't have anything that sets it apart from the standard 3 series

How does that work? Okay, maybe I'll give you the SS sedan, but only because they don't offer the supercharged motor in it. Forgive me as I don't know much about chevy's, but I believe the exterior treatments, as well as the suspension package is unique to the SS badged vehicles.

                      But.

The Si coupe/sedan has a COMPLETELY different engine than any of the other models, is the only model available with a 6-speed transmission, has a different suspension, wheel/tire package and Si-only interior. How is that different than any other previous M3? Lets also not forget the Vi-RS models of the 5th and 6th generation civic sedans where available with a similar B16 motor to the US EM1 (99-00) Si for years in other countries. Not to mention the current gen civic type R is sold as a Sedan in Japan: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/29/h...edan-in-japan/

And who said a car had to have two doors to be sporty? I know plenty of Station Wagons and even a few SUV/Crossovers that will blow the doors off many "sports cars" on the strip AND the road course.

Personally, I wish BMW would sell the M5 Estate on this side of pond, someone needs to give the E63 estate some competition, Audi? BMW? Anyone?

Yes i know the e36 had sedan m3's but IMHO e36 m3's are a bastard child of motorsport.

Sorry to offend those who love them.
Drive one around a track and claim that... Yes we got a bad version in the US but it is an AMAZING CAR... we got the same suspension we are just down on power and an extra gear...

How is it a bastard child?

There is nothing wrong with a 4 door M3... The e36 M3 four door was an AMAZING CAR...

Just a question... Why is R3v the official e36 M3 hate board???? I take my e36 M3 out to the track and rag it to hell and back and it asks for more and handles like a DREAM!

But that is just simply stupid... And e36 M3, EVEN in US spec, IS a faster, stiffer and yes, better handling car than the e30 M3... Want to compare to an euro model or a 95 LTW? It isn't even a competition... Sorry dude, I love the e30 but don't be ignorant.

Oh wow... They just threw on an ///M Badge on a 318 sedan and put on the M3 Suspension and the 405hp V8 and 6 speed or SMG and called it an M3... Oh wait... it is...

I still don't know why people get so butt hurt about 4 doors. I kinda like the idea- sort of alludes to the idea of the first m5. Now I know there already is a four door M (e60 m5), but what's wrong with having a little variety?

I dont know what to think about the new E90 M3. I dont like the E92/3 body style though.

With E36's I prefer the 4-door. I dont like the coupe, mostly because of the heavy long doors. Doesnt make much sense, but it works for me.
