Well, I've gotta say I'm a bit embarrassed by my idiocy in the previous posts. Gotta stay off the computer when I'm in that state.I doubt he'll use an SMGIII trans. If he did that he would have to tie it in with the DSC and the accel. sensors, brake sensors, everything.
I haven't looked at the post on S14 but will MoTec beable to use the Ionic current measurements? S85's dont use knock sensors, so that will be interesting aswell........

You're right, the 6-speed is the only way to go with this project.
Tuning this motor with the Motec is definitely going to be a HUGE undertaking. Hopefully they can get the baseline tune close enough to not damage anything.
And the cost of this project is going to be absolutely insane. The engine they have is very bare, so they'll need to purchase all of the accessories, manifolds, etc separately. I went through a similar thing with a customer of mine who wanted to retrofit sport seats into his e39 530i. Ended up costing over $10k because all of the parts had to be purchased separately! Hopefully these guys are getting wholesale pricing...Leave a comment:

But yeah, I'd imagine this would be a pretty difficult project if you aren't extremely familiar with the E60 M5 chassis electronics. And I wonder if the SMG III trans fits in an E30 tunnel? Fuck, I'm wasted right now.

I'll be impressed if they put that twin turbo kit on it. Until then, weaksauce.

shit, it can't be that hard to design a new car to put an e30 body on, literaly.Leave a comment:

i think i would rather poke myself in the eye with a soldering iron rather than trying to figure out the wiring to get that car to run with that engine on an aftermarket ems.
on a side note... the rear suspension on this car alone is enough to qualify it for god status nevermind the redonkulous engine swap. best e30 ever if it lives up to the hype when done.Leave a comment:

i'm sure an engine management system would be nothing compared to the cost of a new engine and transmission. Has to be somewhere between 40-50k. I wonder what dinan is useing for engine management on their race car engine. One thing is for sure is that i'm definitely ordering one of those when i win the powerball.Leave a comment:

I knew we would see this sooner or later, I just didn't think it would be such an extreme project. Someone here can still be the first to put it into a normal e30;).Leave a comment:
