Sure its pretty lax. Who cares. Ive read a lot of stuff and some people prefer vintage 'road' frame geometry for use on the 'road' go figure.

did a 15 mile push last night, longest ride i've done so far for my clydesdale ass.

felt so good, and shitty at the same time, but it was a ton of fun till toward the end when i felt like dying

question: my gearing now is 46/16, if i switch over to 46/16, it'll be easier to pedal but have a lower top speed, correct?

46/16 is the same as 46/16. It's what I'm running. IIRC 17 skid patches, if you skid stop, thats good for your tire life.

Also, there is a gearing calculator chart somewhere in this thread.

46/16 gives you 8 skid patches.
if you bump up the rear cog to 17 teeth, it will be easier to pedal, but you'll lose some top speed. Then again you'll also have 17 skid patches instead of 8. That's a plus.
