So I just did my first trial run with my Garmin GPS in my back pocket. I rode up to my girlfriends work, had some lunch and hung out in the area for a bit. Then I switched the GPS tracking on for the ride home.
I got home, transferred the GPS data to the computer, and then uploaded that data to this site called GPSVisualizer. This site takes any GPS data and converts it to a google map format. Then you can save this Googlemap stuff on a profile @ Everytrail.com.
On the way there I had a max speed of 31.4mph. On the way back max speed was 24mph.
Thanks dudes. They are some cheapo soma grips, i had a couple options. none matched my wheels but these were the closest.
The 123's... i'm still getting used to. hitting bumps and having that shock sent straight into my palms is new. My ourys did a good job of keeping my hands protected

When I ditched the shitty stock black foam tape on my bars and got the red Fizik tape, I had that same issue, it was killing my palms. I picked up some fingerless Specialized road bike gloves, they've got this big fat pad on the corner of the palm, where you post most of your weight, and they helped SO much.
I can ride without mine, but I'm just much more comfortable with them.
Not only that, I've got 3 huge dark spots from where my road rash scarred over on the top of my right hand, 2 on my knuckles and one right on the top. They look awful. Wish I'd been wearing gloves then.
So, played with my bike a little this weekend. Stripped all the pinkish paint haha and made it a legit single speed. I also welded the rear cassette so its a pretty haggard fixed gear, no skidding here. Im waiting till after i go to court for my tickets to spend money on it.
Its a late 70's Peugeot Course
I thought it looked so sweet with no paint, i just cleared it:
Damn, those bikes are amazingly stable and grippy through all of that. It was pretty neat to see what the bike was doing too by watching the rider in front.
