Formulas are still bottom-of-the-line hubs, sealed bearings or not.
I'm not saying they're unridable. But I've had my bike for almost a year, and the stock Formulas on mine already feel sluggish and gritty.
Formula hubs have sealed bearings. Period.
And yes, they arent super fantastic, but they're fine for daily use. They werent meant to be tricked on, and the bearings are interchangeable with Phil Wood bearings.
Cant believe you said that! Besides, you've never owned anything other than Formula hubs buddy. ;)
I have been craving a road bike so badly. I want a single speed flip flop now!
dude same here. I can't afford anything beyond my damn bills at the moment, but I've been dying for a single speed for a while. I don't like fixed gears that much but I need something to get around town.
here are all mine:with the new one I just ordered a cannondale caad9, just like this:
i'm gonna upgrade the crank and fork down the line...
my bike for the mountains:
take it to northstar and whistler a lot
here's my hardtail, which is currently mostly stripped down. i'm looking for a new frame, but of course, AFTER i buy my next car. looking for something like a norco, commencial, or blkmrkt/atomlab.

Dude, you were the one that told me if I bought Forumlas or Dimensions for my new wheelset, you'd beat me. Formulas are cheap hubs, period.
Along that same vein, my new hubs got here today. I'm taking them along with my wheels to get built in a little while!

I may still beat you, but not for disciplinary purposes.
Good! Love my Miche's!!! So smooth. Oh yeah, and what I was saying about the lock rings, is that the lockring on miche's are campy, not standard. So if you ever strip out a ring, better find a campy compatible one. I was saying that as a "BEWARE" not so much whatever you thought I was talking about. /Offtopic
Well I just did a rookie move: Ordered a 14T BMX metric freewheel, when I should have ordered a freewheel for 'standard' hubs. So I ordered this: http://harriscyclery.net/itemdetails.cfm?ID=1094 AC Racing 15T freewheel.
Combine this with some cheap Nashbar bullhorns, profile aero bars; should be interesting..
So I'm quite pissed right now. My new hubs got here today, and I dropped everything off to get built, then found out I might be totally fucked on these rims (Mavic CXP 30). Apparently, one of the little eyelet inserts is missing from one of the wheels. ONE FUCKING INSERT. And of course, these rims are no longer in production, so everything I've read so far says you can't get them anymore. But I've also read that the eyelet insert from the CXP33 or the Cosmic might work, so the shop I bought them from is going to check.
Does ANYONE know of or have a set of these wheels that might be trashed or no good that I could get a couple of these from? I seriously need to find one of these, someone PLEASE help me out if you can.
I just ate shit hard on my fixed.. It had been about two weeks since I have rode it last, so I decided to go around the neighborhood once. Cruising along at a decent pace, the front wheel locked up suddenly sending me over the bars. My hands, elbow, and left calf are all tore up! I also managed to rip my bar wraps (they needed to be replaced though) and ripped the shit out of the side of my seat.
Im honestly not sure. I just recently bought new/bigger tires and on the front wheel there was one tiny spot where it would just BARELY graze the brake (like just the "nipples" on the tread), the rest of the tire would be about 1cm away from the brake and never touch. I think I hit a bump right when that spot was under the brake ( I was also pedaling hard standing up) and I think the tire got caught on the brake. What really sucks is that I was on my way home and was planning on fixing it.
