Nice comfortable road bike nothing majorly special about it. They were common in the late 70's thru the early 80's. Components were typical Shimano or Suntour for that time. That bike is priced about what it was new when it came out.

Classic and Vintage Bicycles: Whats it Worth? Appraisals. - NOS Nishiki International worth $400? - I have an opportunity to purchase a NIB 1981ish Nishiki International for $400. Didn't get a chance to look at it too closely, but what I did see is: Tange lugged frame-bronze color with outlined lugs Suntour blueline

I'm kinda interested in it as recreational rider. I've always ridden trails, but wanted to start road riding. What's a good offer on it? $150-175?

$50, no more. We'd get bikes like this for trade in from time to time and usually sell them to the Play it Again Sports down the street for $25, or give them away. Nishiki isn't a boutique brand by any description, it's no Bianchi, more of a Huffy. It's got an old drivetrain, old brakes, old tires, and probably could stand to be re-cabled.

Friend of mine (another E30 guy too) shot these the other day at the skatepark. Sadly this was the last I got to ride the park. Closing for good after 12 years.

                Hi there,

I did a quick search of this topic before replying, so here it goes...

Recommendations for trunk racks for MTB's on E30's? Currently I have a Bell 3 bicycles rack and past weekend I noticed it ruined my rear bumper paint.

I am considering the Saris Bones, my only doubt is, will it be gentle on the paint? I would love a SeaSucker Talon but I can carry 3 bikes with the Saris cheaper than one with the Talon.

                Thoughts, feedback?

                Thanks!

Okay i'm not sure how many of you are really into mountain biking since i just skim through this thread for pics, but I need all of your help. I have a bike that I recently started building and have hit a stump.
The bike is a basic aluminum hard tail with fabbed up bolt on steel dropouts, Dart one forks, vuelta off roads, avid 7's and kenda k838 tires. That's the basics. The bike is more of a city all terrain thing to have fun on, but anyways.
The problem i have come to is Its gonna be a single speed and i am looking for a way around the spaced out free hub cog. as seen below.

Now what i'm thinking is adding a bmx driver onto my hub. I can go with a low rear gear ratio and it should hold up to the terrain. I just need to know if it will work. It's the same design with the three prawl's but I don't know if it will just slide right on.
Here is what i have on my hub now.

What size frame do you typically run? and I have a centurion accordo that is a 63cm and I'm 5'7 haha. It's just to look at though. Nice bike btw.

                      Fixed, 44x16.

I'm going to convert it to a 5-speed and transfer the crankset, bb, chain, and wheelset to a smaller frame for GF, tricks, fun...

You need to buy a single speed wheel, free hubs & drivers are not interchangeable between different hubs. Mavic, Shimano, I-9, King, Hadley, etc., all have their own propriety free hub body designs. Otherwise you have to run the spacer setup you show in the pic above.

That said, the conversion kits work fine, I did a single speed conversion on a customers Yeti 575 last summer (the guy is 6'5" probably 260lbs) and he's had no issues. And that's a single speed on a full suspension frame, it's a bit trickier than a hardtail, for sure. A devoted ss wheel will be better looking & lighter, maybe slightly stiffer, beyond that, there's no huge advantage.

Yeah i get that, like i know it works fine i just was trying to go with a smaller cog in the rear. I don't like a huge chain ring up front so it seemed ideal that i could run like a 38-8 ratio. The lowest ive found in the free hub is a 14 tooth and it was 30 bucks. Have you had experience with lacing a bmx hub to 26in. rim? You have a shop?

I'm 99% sure a BMX hub is a different spacing so you can't use it anyway. The best way to get a ss to work is to use old spacers from a few dead cassettes (the old school 8 spd ones work best) to align the cog with the best chain line. A good chain line is worth the effort because it reduces drag from a sideloaded chain and it runs the most quietly not to mention the reduced wear.

Just a thought. If you are looking to run a freewheel, check E bay. I've picked up some cool oldschool hubs for dirt cheap. Bullseye and Phil wood are some of the best freewheel hubs.
