you can get prebuilt track (fixed hub) wheels for cheaper than building your own but the latter is more fun. just build something with a front brake until you learn to control your speed, then change components as your taste develops.

I like what I see here guys...

Nice bike TJ Digitalwave.. Looks good. I'll save the brake comments but looks great.

Josh - Make sure you buy a new lockring. I dont think the one that came with the Windsor will hold up after being torqued off a few times.

Another note.. I dunno if you guys caught my response saying I was in Denver over the weekend.. While I was there, I made it a mission to find bike shops, shoe boutiques, etc. Check out the urban scene. I saw a total of 5 fixed gears riding around in 1 day. Not as many as I had hoped, but still not bad. During my mission, I came across the most incredible guy and shop. This guy is a custom bike builder. He TIG's perfect, makes amazing bikes, and even hand makes all of his carbon fiber bikes. The guy invited me in, talked with me. Let me shoot pictures of his shop and setup and bikes, and even gave me a tshirt and stickers. This guy had 15k dollar bikes just hanging up. Even had a Cinelli track bike hanging up too he was working on.. Amazing. Simply amazing. Here are some pics. I know they are small but I used my friends camera and he hasnt sent me the full resolution shots, or all the pictures.

Everything on this bike is hand made he said. Even the handle bars. He shrunk a tire tube down to fit over it as the grip. Looks seamless..The welds keeping this Reynolds 531 frame together are immaculate.. He said this was his car for a while..

Hand made trueing stand with skulls on it he made.

        More pics later..

        Some others for good measure..

So I just recently have started to road bike and typically use my dads cross bike. Its a Specialized tri-cross the sort of matt black colored model. But I bought a bike for $30 the other day. I bought some toe cages and re-wrapped the handlebars. What do you all think?

so all this reading of this thread... just lead me to the bike store, to get talked out of the bianchi AND the masi, and into the hour. you believe that. the guy at the store was nice enough to tell me that i wouldnt know the difference at first, and to take my time building a fixed gear for my second bike. i just paypal'd for the windsor, and ordered my front brake from bikeisland.com, and cant wait to put my brooks saddle on it...

              thanks a lot!

Well, I haven't posted in this thread for a while... sort of forgot it was here.

I've been riding all my life, but for the last 3 months I've been riding everywhere. literally. I lost my license 2 and a 1/2 months ago, so my bike is my only transport now! I've been riding the fixie everywhere, but a few weeks ago I busted the read tire while in a skid.. nearly killed myself but I was OK thank god. Since the Rossin still had it's original rear wheel and a tubeless tire, I thought it was time to upgrade.. I ordered some parts and waited.

In the mean time I've been riding my Trec road bike, but I fucked up my wrist recently and have been out of action for a week or so (I got my arm wrapped round in a metal lathe... nasty) A

Anyhow, Today, my gear finally arrived!! I'll post some pics when I'm home from Uni. God I love riding!
I can't wait to get back on the Rossin!

I find it INCREDIBLY HILARIOUS that the propagana-esque Obama "HOPE" posters are located directly above a shitload of OBEY GIANT posters. All too ironic. But that's for another thread.

My real reason for being here is... NEW SHIZZ!

New MKS Sylvans, MKS steel clips, and ALE red leather straps. Baller.

And a couple complete shots, for good measure:

Next on the shopping list is new tires (these SUCK), the Surly cog (I was going to get a new lockring), and a red KMC chain.

I knew that Shephard Fairey designed them, but I didn't realize they were separate pics. My bad. But it would still be funny.

I have a poster of the "Walk The Line" dvd cover that he did, I need to get it framed.

Thanks for the comments on the bike, too. I LOVE the bullhorns, skidding is so much easier holding them at the ends, and it makes hills a lot easier, too. But I do want to get some better ones, mine are just flipped/chopped drops.

I think I want these ones.

I just want ones that are actual bullhorns, the hand-flats are a bit longer with real bulls, and they probably have better ends than mine do just being cut off, and I think they're also not as wide. Mine are also D-shaped at the front hand-flats, where I have the brake lever, and it's kind of uncomfortable. The stock bars are also just really thin, cheap crap.

I stopped into the local bike shop and was quoted $160 for a set of wheels with nice hubs, he didn't tell me the brand but he had an another brand that was $120 for a rear wheel w/ a better hub than the other. I think i'm gonna do some more research but the set for 160 sounds like a deal to me, anyone have any info to share? Thanks

The posters were actually side by side. The standard Ferry Andre the Giant picture and then the HOPE one and then another design he did. All in multiples of like 20 (or was) half ripped off all down this one building on one of the main streets downtown Denver.

So yea, all Ferry, all together.

                              Those bullhorns are ridorkulously huge.

I used to live right near Ronhert Park. I know your pain.
