          Josh - I put my factory Windsor wheel back on for a few days while my Deep V's were getting laced...

          The gear ratio is total shit. I completely forgot about it.
          You should order an 18t dura ace and lock ring and switch that bad boy out....

            AGREED. my brother mike saved money by using his stock windsor cog on his Deep-V's with a brand new lock ring. so the gearing still blows.

              Dude its almost unbearable to ride its so hard to pedal.

              Once you ease up the difficulty, skids become easier. Hills are easier. Just feels more fluent. Perfect middle ratio for speed and tricks.

                To be truthful, I'm still brakeless, been riding around my 'hood, but I am still too spooked to put all my weight foreward on those bars to lock up that rear wheel.

                  Dooo it man! it's so invigorating! lol Seriously, you just need to go for it, only problem is, once you figure out how easy it is, you're not going to stop and you'll need new tires like every few weeks.

                    • If you lock one leg at the bottom of the pedal stroke, as the pedal rises it will start to lift your body upward.
                    • When the cranks get horizontal, pull up on the front pedal, while pushing down on the rear one.
                    • Because your body will have acquired upward momentum, when you yank up with the front foot this will temporarily partially unweight the rear wheel, making it possible to initiate a skid.

                    Since sliding friction is less than sticking friction, once the tire starts to skid, you will generally be able to maintain the skid until you've stopped or at least slowed down as much as you want to. You have to really want to do it, you can't be tentative! It's easier when you're going faster.
                    The lower your gear , the more effectively you can "brake" by resisting with your legs.
                    Despite what some folks will tell you, you can not stop nearly as short this way as you can by using a good front brake.

                      All I know is, (I live in the foothills) I was heading downhill so fast that I was "fishtailing" at each crank cycle and I was gonna piss myself. If thats what it's supposed to feel like, I must be on the right track. It's like a straightline drift bicycle.

                              I got my front tire fixed. The rim strip had a hole in it I missed. I also put on my riser bars, oury grips, avid brake lever and front brake. The bike is SO much more rideable now.
