That bike is intense. It seems to have no practical purpose though.

I just want to put this thread in its place.Originally posted by DigitalwaveDude, I realize you are a hipster and you have a track bike and you've been riding longer than a lot (most?) of us. But please. You don't have to be an elitist prick. You have helped me in the past and I appreciate it, but your attitude in this thread has sucked recently. If we aren't good enough for you, you could go to another forum where the people aren't noobs like us.
If you met me, you wouldnt think so. Im the least elitist prick you'll ever meet. Its the snobiety in this thread that isnt cool. I like your bike by the way and would help you again if you needed it.
But not every bike needs to be converted to fixed gear, not every person that rides fixed gear is clad in American Apparel with rolled up pants legs with a hoody, and not every fucking bike needs to have bull horns.

I see what you mean. Alot of the comments in here are typical of both kinds of snobs. Those who are "scene" and those who think they are above it.I just want to put this thread in its place.

I met David (scabzzzz) in NY and he was one of the raddest dudes i've ever met. far from "hipster." hope he could say the same about me. I built this bike for me, not to post up pictures and have dudes telling me to change it. My bike took me 2 months to build and countless hours (and money...) I don't really appreciate the whole "change your bars, change this, etc" bullshit.1989 Bronzit 325ia- Sold

Leave it then. I'm going to leave my 1600's paint job the way it is - faded and orig. Will people disagree? Yes. Do I give a fuck?

Dude. Would you and Andy calm down? Why are you guys getting so hyper-defensive about this? The only reason I said it "needs" bullhorns is because I think they look better. THAT'S ALL. Why has everyone suddenly gotten their panties all twisted to hell and back? Is this all because I posted that stupid fucking picture calling that super-angry looking kid a hipster? I WAS JUST FUCKING AROUND. Next time, I'll remember to put my sarcasm brackets around my text. Jesus christ.
Anytime I've ever said someone should change something, it's not like I'm ordering them to do it. I'm just stating what I think looks good.Last edited by Jand3rson; 10-01-2008, 02:20 PM.Comment

Some people take it pretty seriously. Just because it's a neat hobby to some of us doesn't mean it can't be something more to others.
Edit: Damn you edited that post like 7 times.Last edited by Jand3rson; 10-01-2008, 02:20 PM."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

Honestly, you sound more worked up about it than anyone else. I can see where they're coming from though - I used to get the same kind of shit when I was really into skateboarding. People would try to get me to dress/talk/listen to music/ect differently because it fit what everyone else was doing better. I thought I was just being myself.
I guess what I'm getting at is when people pour everything they've got into something they aren't very open to criticism from part-time hobbyists. I'm not saying anyone criticized anyone or even that someone here is a part time hobbyist...but you get the idea."We praise or find fault, depending on which of the two provides more opportunity for our powers of judgement to shine."Comment

I'm not worked up about anything. If anything, I'm honestly regretting posting that picture and saying that, and offending some of the guys like Andy and David. I wasn't trying to piss anyone off. I know that a lot of people take the scene pretty seriously, and even though I've only been into it for a couple of months now, I take riding and my bike seriously, as well. I didn't mean to come in as the noob and start acting like I knew everything and that I knew what every bike needs and what it doesn't, I'm genuinely sorry if that's how I came off, that wasn't my intention. I just don't like drops, that's all.
I'm trying to learn as much as I can about fixies, I'm totally fascinated by them, and I love mine and love riding it. So if I came off sounding like a prick in this thread by acting like I knew it all right off the bat, I apologize.Last edited by Jand3rson; 10-01-2008, 01:20 PM.Comment
