Where do you guys shop/browse parts? I'm not going to buy anytime soon, I just like window shopping. Specifically I'm looking for some new handlebars and a gold finger brake trigger for the front.
And if I were to make mine a singlespeed, what do I need? How do I choose sprockets etc? Is there an FAQ for these general questions?Last edited by red; 10-03-2008, 12:11 AM.

Search Sheldon Brown fixed or something hes got a beautiful site for fixed conversions.
And do what ever works for you. Im coverting an old schwinn thats probably too small for me... Its all about getting into it for little money as possible n then building a bike when you can i think.
But yeah search fixed gear parts in google n you get some good stuff.
I guess the way to go about selecting a gear ratio is to ride around in ONE gear for a little while, changing every so often till you determine a gear your both comfortable sprinting and going up hills in.-Chris

I'm pretty sure I just want a singlespeed for now. Fixed in the future. or a non daily.
I bike to school everyday which is about a 10 or so mile round trip. I don't want anything too flashy, just a nice college bike with a lot of personality(i've got tons of stickers waiting to go on it, I want one of those top tube pads, everyone has a crazy pattern so I was thinking a solid color would be unique. I was thinking of powdercoating my bike a nice maroon, or pigeon grey. but i am really going overboard.
I originally bought the bike to save money for when I transfer schools next year and for an apt/living expenses.
But it's just another money pit =(
Any good forums to read? I've pretty much read this entire thread and need more reading material. haha.Last edited by red; 10-03-2008, 01:00 AM.
