One question Josh? You spent X dollars on your bike then customized it correct? Why didn't you spec build your bike from day one? Seems you have to be double on the initial cost. Yes.Comment

Did I spend more doing it this way? Sure. But I don't regret it. I learned what kind of cheap stuff can come on a bike when you buy a complete, I learned how to tear it down, and how to put it all back together. It was a good experience.Comment

^^^ I feel the same way about spending triple into a conversion that a similar complete would have cost.Comment

It's definitely a leg up on the stocker you had.
I don't know just figured we all had learned a few things over the years modding cars. It wasn't a personal jab It was just a obvious question.Comment

It would have sucked having to tell all my friends every time they all wanted to go riding, "I can't, I'm still waiting for my headset", or "I don't have enough money to get my cranks and pedals until next week".Last edited by Jand3rson; 05-05-2009, 06:40 PM.Comment

See, I would have set a budget. then spent an extra $350 as that is where I would have wanted a bike. Has one of your area nuts bought a truing stand? I haven't done a set of wheels in years.
It's a fun learning curve.Comment

you guys have nothing on the netherlands. there are bikes everywhere! they have bike paths with bike stop lights, and people line up in the bike lanes just as cars do, it's really cool.
Harlem was a great town to visit, and it i was well off, i would definetly want to retire there!
here is a pic of a cool bike i took while visiting corrie tenbooms house
