do you know of any local bay area places to find nice old vintage frames/completes? I've been yearning to build up something vintage with flair for the school commute this fall. i've tried laney and a few other flee markets, but they're all bullshit. craigslist is pretty tricky too, as it seems all the fixie riders are snagging everything.

      NEW BIKE!
      Mountain Cycle San Andreas DNA
      Marzocchi 66RC fork
Fox Float R shock (looking for a RP23)
      Easton Carbon bars
      Race Face Evolve stem
      Magura Marta FR brakes
      Easton Havoc AM wheelset
      bla bla bla

Thing actually pedals really really well for a 7" travel bike. And its not very heavy for one either. Id like to get a Fox 36 Float fork to shave some more weight but the Zoke is pretty damn buttery

This also means some old bikes are for sale:

Well I just mapped out the distance from my house to my work. It its only 8.2 km and that got me thinking, for you guys experienced riding in city how is it? Last time I really rode a bike was back when I was like 12, and that was a mountain bike out in the desert.

How is riding in the winter when it is 0°C? If it looks promising then I'll start looking at used bikes or lower end models for something to get until I get into it.
a light will shine down from somewhere, it will light upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will say to yourself, "I have to r3v."

I'd recommend the specialized bg2 saddle. It's not the prettiest or lightest, but its really comfortable, and has a cutout to get bloodflow to your gooch. Plus it's only 40 bucks brand new.

Or go for a used toupe on ebay.

Stem looks mean, but is it really a necessity?

Thanks for the advice. I've since switched up my riding shorts and things have been much more comfortable.

                          Wrong placement with dumpster.

For reference, and because it's been a while since I've seen it.
