Wouldn't a full suspension be more of a work out considering you would be losing some power due to the suspension compressing when you pedal?

yea thats true lol but when you go down hill its so much better also i think its more of a work out with a full suspension because its heavier and also if you cant lock the shock or forks you loose a lot of Momentum ... Either way hittin the trails is fun hhahah

I'm a hard tail guy as well. I have a sweet Klein Adept Pro carbon that sits in the corner. I never ride it. I have a mint '92 S-Works Steel frame built up period correct with Sun Tour XC-Pro and Rock Shox Mag 21s (the early ones), a Diamondback Apex single speed from about 2001 or so (Pit bike) a '98 Voodoo d-jab Ti that is my normal ride, and my Action-Tec custom Team Edtion Scandium frame that now sits on my wall (19lbs in 1999 with full knobbies.) Its pretty rare, I think it might be the only one in existence built using the first generation Easton Sc7000 tube set. I was a factory rider for them when I broke my frame (defective frame, someone stuck a 6061 seat tube in with the rest of the 7005 tubeset) I suggested to the owner of the company that we try the Sc7000 tubing for the new frame. Doug Curtis at Curtlo built the frame for me and when it was shipped to Action-Tec, Russ Robinson (owner of Action Tec) was so impressed by the lack of weight he added it to the production line. Nothing like a 2.75lb frame to built a race bike out of. After 10 years of riding and racing, I never broke it, and the only part that failed on the bike was a seat post binder bolt (while I was standing at the start line for a race.)

Hard tails are where its at.

Dude, its got a U brake on the back. It likely dates to about '87 or '88. That was a good bike back in the day (not expensive, but well built.)

In honor of my Cannondale SuperSix

I crashed my 2010 Cannondale SuperSix racing at this years Manhattan Beach Grand Prix. My frame ended up destroyed. Took me a whole month to get a replacement.

Dude, its got a U brake on the back. It likely dates to about '87 or '88. That was a good bike back in the day (not expensive, but well built.)

I believe it is a 1991. Ya, great built bike, internal cable routing and triple triangle. Definitely has some class.

Got to ride a set of these the other day. Fucking incredible engagement, and stiff as all get out. They really, truly put King, Hadley, I-9, etc. to shame! Then engagement reminded me of riding a fixie, it's seriously right there as soon sa you stand on the pedal. Also, you better have many dollars to spend.

To the R3V MTB Guru's:
I'm looking to get back into the game.
I've been doing lot of road cycling when I'm not rowing/training on the erg.
I currently have a pretty heavy Ironhorse 7.3. It's heavy and the frame is too small for me now (bought it freshman yr of high school).

I'm looking to get a new full suspension MTB frame, used.
I'm 6'2.5", 185 lbs. I want to get something that I could ride the trails with, enduro riding, downhill, a little freeridng mixed in...singletrack, all that good stuff I used to do.

What does R3v recommend? I'm looking to spend under $700 for a frame.

Here's mine. Just got back from DH'ing in Mammoth. The stock marzo forks blew (read as: snapped in half mid air on a jump) so I decided to go the Fox route. I am very happy I did.

Damn, Nice jaywood. I went up with my stock 29er and that thing blew.I'm more of a road/track cyclist so the mammoth runs were scary.
