Seems the Canon is better due to raw, better optical zoom & larger lcd but is it 100.00 better?

Nikon's case ergonomics look to be better but idk.

    Input #5 needs input.

    Thanks

How long has it been since you have owned/worked on/driven an e30?

      Why?

Both are going to be fine cameras for 99% of the population.

I'm preferential to the menu system on the Canons. Earlier I used a borrowed Nikon Coolpix 8700 (I used to have a Coolpix 5700), and it reminded me of just how terrible Nikon's user interface is.

Oh, and the only way to get the absolute correct answer to your question is to go hold them both at a camera store and see which one you like to use better. Everything else is just subjective opinion.

Have you checked the reviews and sample images from them at DPReview.com?

BTW, the Canon looks the business.

I have a coolpix L1 on it's last legs (kids have dropped it breaking the cheap case & causing the battery door to require tape to keep it shut) and am used to the bad Nikon menus.

I am leaning towards the Canon and have read many reviews.

I like to ask people that know before I pull the trigger and know there are quite a few photographers here.

            Thanks

Here is a decent (imho) pic of an Eagle I took from a moving train with the L1 a few weeks ago

Since no one but Ben cares this is for you:

I just won a Canon G9 on ebay for 420.00 delivered with a 2gb 80x card, oem leather case & extra non oem battery. Could not top that deal anywhere brick & mortar!

              Thanks for your input.

I am really loving the G9. The one thing I was concerned that was missing was a good grip. I found accessories for it here:

It takes care of that totally and looks like it is oem. I also got a thumb rest and hot shoe protector.

Sorry about the bad Blackberry pictures.
