    Portable mp3 player ?

I have aux. in on my cd/mp3 player and thought about getting a portable mp3 player for gym use and to extend playback in the car.

I don't want to purchase something that requires software to be installed to be used (apple products cough cough).

Any input on the ZEN players ? Looks good, small, no expensive, 4gb of storage.

Zen products are really good. I used to sell them, and have a couple myself. Never had any problems with them.

To use when running / driving the track car to the track (no radio).

Very, very small, comes with an arm band, the radio works nicely, never skips a beat, it's cheap, not to bad on the batteries... I really can't say anything negative about it.

Make sure you get some real good quality ear plug headphones for whatever you get, with different size rubber plugs.

I always loved the Zens. When Mp3 players first came out they had the MuVo TX FM's which I got. I had a Zen Micro years ago but when that failed on me 3 years ago I got a Zen Micro Photo. Easy to use, no hassle player. I think Creative makes excellent alternatives to iPods.

Why don't you want to install software? You want to use windows media player? Or just straight drag and drop?

          Welcome to 2007.

I have a Zen Vision M, in the 30 gig version and it's absolutely great. I can't think of really anything I don't like about it that's worth complaining about. I'm sure the players with less storage would still be of similar quality.

Why should I for a simple file transfer ? :) Besides, it wouldn't work on my Linux box... I just don't like I-Tunes, Winamp FTW.
