some of you might remember the bridge that collapsed a few months back in minneapolis. im really not a heartless bastard and i feel for the people that had to live thru this shit and for the lives lost but what the fuck is going on in this world? we all pay insurance for shit like this that covers accidents and medical coverage. here in minneapolis we have these cocksuckers being paraded in front of tv cameras saying they deserve compensation for pain and suffering. lost wages and a number of other things. we dont even know the cause of the collapse and it doesnt even matter. im sick of entitlement mentality. yes i feel bad you were injured but youre supposed to be insured. your car will be fixed and your medical bills will be paid. so lets hear all the liberals voice their oppinion on why we should support the injured and give them all a million to stfu

I'm Liberal and I completely agree with what you're saying. It's fuckheads like this that raise Insurance premiums in the first place.Originally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. They barely hold everything together and they only sold a lot because of the popularity of their older sibling.

I'm no lawyer, but I'll go out on a limb here.....
In Canada, back in the 70's if I'm not mistaken, non-economic damage suits "aka pain and suffering" have been capped at $100K (I believe this number is inflation adjusted already).
I would think it has more to do with American laws & society than anything else.... Lawyers don't help matters, as they are as greedy as the next person, if not even worse in some cases...Comment

Hey, everyone dies but when it's someone you care about suddenly it's a big deal. What makes you so special. Fuck off!Comment

We have become a society of entitlements. It seems more and more often these days that when someone seeks compensation for something, the amount they seek is becoming greater and greater in scale. I can understand there are some legitimate reasons for doing so, but your typical run-of-the-mill incident (i.e. fender bender car accident) will find not only a property damage claim being made, but for medical expenses and pain and suffering for a seemingly minor collision. Having worked with personal injury lawyers in the past, I have seen more than my fair share of BS cases. But if the attorney knows its a slam dunk case with his/her compensation being paid on contingency, they'll go for it whether its right or wrong.
And it doesn't end there......what about natural disasters? With all due respect to those who live along the gulf coast - you know you live in documented hurricane zone, and chances are at some point mother nature is going to come along and fuck your shit up royally. When this day comes (and it will come), please take some responsibility for actions as to why you chose not to leave when you saw the storm heading your way 2 or 3 days in advance. I'm sorry but I just can't sympathize when you get such a generous heads-up.

[lib] I would say "sure, put a fund together for the extreem cases where some fucker was riding his bike and lost a leg and didn't see a dime for it, but other than that if the insurances are doing their business, best of luck to them.... but no extra loot"[/lib]Comment
