Works great for me as it always has to be in the pocket.
Isn't that also what they've dubbed the "Razr 2"? I get to upgrade in a few months so I was thinking about grabbing one of those.

9900 the EnV phone. is a texters best friend. i too am going to the Voyager though as soon as its available. which is nothing like a iphone. to me the big deal with the iphone is its interaction using your fingers to scroll and zoom. the voyager is nowhere near like it AND it has a internal keyboard unlike the iphone. i had a I760 smartphone. it was awesome but i couldnt get used to the PDA style interaction but would recommend it to anyone though. the new verizon phones will be able to handle the 8gig microSD memory cards.

sidenote: no i dont work for verizon, nor do i appreciate the "universal" menu system. the fiance works for them and i get to hear about every little thing about them.

If you MUST stick with Verizon, get any Windows based smart phone, the Motorola Q is a decent phone, and you can easily install the non Verizon firmware on it, to turn it into a real powerful phone that is a great addition to you.

I'm currently talking my roommate into dropping Verizon, they are truly an awful provider who take advantage of people who simply don't know any better.

        No Wifi FTL!!! :(

What are my advantages going with the Motorolla Q instead of just getting a phone? Also, are there better Smartphones that the Q?

And I know better, I just also know it is better to have Mom and Dad finish paying for my phone while I am in school. ;)

What are you all using and what do you recommend?
not a big fan of verizon. although, it has the best network in my area. phones suck tho. but if you must.. get the Q then.

if tmobile is an option.. then thats a whole diff story.
(if money is not a problem..)
you can get overseas phones.. (your parents are paying? sweet.)
ohh and you can get more smart phones...

my 1st phone was from verizon - didnt like it.
          switched to tmobile ..
          - nokia 6630 (had it for 2years)
          - nokia n93i (current phone)

I'm probably snagging a voyager if they'll let me do it without a contract.

Gonna get whatever can run android later though.

T-Mobile / Blackberry Curve 8320. GSM voice and EDGE data networks. This curve has Wi-Fi with UMA. It allows you to make voice calls over Wi-Fi. You have to get T-Mobile's $20-per-month (on top of your voice and data plan) HotSpot@Home service, which permits unlimited calls over Wi-Fi networks. Basically, that means once you add the feature, as soon as you walk into your home, or any other "HotSpot" area, you are automatically making calls over Wi-Fi which does not affect your minutes. This came in really handy as I get next to no signal in this fortress of a complex I just moved into...

The Q/Windows Phones are completely open to whatever you want, MP3, Software, Video, etc. Verizon can't do much to the Windows Mobile OS.

A regular phone, well you have that stupid VCast crap, which sells you everything.

^ What he said. I have a few apps on my Q. Memory is fairly short without an SD card, where I just carry my camera phone pics and some MP3s.

I like my Q. One thing, Don't waste your money on the "extra" battery. Mine lasts longer than my dads and I have the regular battery, he has the big upgraded one.

Also, if you get a Q, Make sure you kill programs after you use them. This is one thing that will take you battery life fast if you don't do, especially the browser.

Erick do you have any different skins on yours?

I used to be a Verizon customer (now with AT&T) and I really can't complain about their service or coverage area. My only gripe is the phone I got - it was a Motorola flip style (sorry, don't remember the model) and it was an utter piece of shit. That was my second time with a Motorola phone.....my first experience was equally unimpressive. I have since been using Nokia phones (flip and open face) and neither of them have let me down, even after a few accidental drops.

So there's my bias - stay away from Motorola.

Good phones: Nokia, Samsung, some Sony/Ericsson models are good too.

Here's where I've bought my last 2 phones. Good resource and buyer feedback. http://www.letstalk.com/home.htm?svs_cmpId=0

No, but I'm considering getting a black skin. My current one is massively abused.
