    photo radar

On a four lane street, two in each direction: there is a photoradar van parked on the side of the street and there are two cars next to each other one is possibly speeding, how does the radar know which car to snap a picture of? Does it have two cameras one per each lane or some shit like that? Last night i was cruising down the road doing 37mph when i noticed a bright light, i looked down at my speedo and it said 37mph and the limit was 35, and there was another car next to me in the left lane about a half car length back. So question is how does it know which car to nail for speeding, getting busted for going two over is rediculous, and i dont think it was for me. also i dont think it would snap for two mph over?.

From what I understand, radar locks in on the fastest moving object. Most likely the camera gets both lanes and the photo is later zoomed/cropped for legal use.

Yeah, but you can't get busted for 2 miles an hour, that beats the precision of all speedos in the market, that ticket won't hold in court, someone told me the radars are set to nail people that go 5mph over the legal limit.

We have them here in Chattanooga Tn. and some lawyers are fighting them because one of the lawyers received a ticket for speeding when his car was in a service shops hands and he now has it on his record. They are saying the cameras might catch speeders but it does not actually get who was driving the car but rather who it is registered too.

here in az, the cameras don't pop you until 11mph over.

            but we have them everywhere.

So is it one flash that focuses in on the speeding car or two flashes, like a red light camera, which would show a different measurement in the two photos?

The angle of the picture that was supposedly taken, my car is between the other car and the photoradar van. Now if i do get a ticket that said a different speed than my actual speed, how and they decifer which car was speeding. It would seem obvious that it was my car cause i was closer to the radar and blocking the other car.

Damn, I did not know they were so prevalent, they tried the here in CS, but Texas decided that they prefer to give you speeding tickets personally, not milk the populace for tons of cash. It was a mighty nice decision of them.

true! you also (in AZ) can put the ticket in your shredder when they send it to you. they have 90 days to serve you with the ticket by process server (this was the way people in AZ were getting out of the tickets because they were not being served in person...so they started serving people). the server has to make 2 attempts to serve you.
                    true story:
roommate comes into mm room "hey, do you know some black guy?"
                    "no, why"
                    "there's one at the door"
so i look out the window and see him and his mini van.
"oh shit that's the process server that served my old roommate with her photo radar ticket, don't answer it!!"
we hide and he goes away.
                    3 weeks later...
same guy same white mini van, we pretend like we are not home...he goes away defeated!!!
I'm pretty sure it was for me i remember getting flashed on the 101 (they have them on a stretch of highway here too) for doing 80 mph in a pack of cars, and wondering if it got me.

if you respond to the summons you are fucked. check out your pic also, if you can prove it doesn't look like you sometimes you can get off. you also are not required to divulge the name of the person driving the car if you say it is not you. if you see the pic you might get a laugh out of it too.
when i got caught in the Porsche by the photo radar you can see me saying "FUCK!" and the rear shot you can almost not see the plate's numbers (i swerved to try to get out of the frame) and the smoke coming off of the back tyres from hammering the brakes when i saw him.

i thought they had 120 days for some reason... either way, i drive my brothers cars and he drives mine. no photo tickets for us! don't know if you noticed, but those cameras take video and when they send you the ticket at the bottom there is a link and an access code. so you can check out your video, but at the same time they know you got the citation.

hahaha, i can picture that happening! my boss has a stack of those.
