It amazes me how these young guys cant seem to keep themselves out of trouble. Given the opportunity, how can someone not want to "rise above"? My white, suburban, middle-class upbringing cant understand how a person who grew up poor would not want to undertake some serious self-improvement. Hell, if I won the lottery and didn't have to work every day, I'd go back to school. I kick myself every day for dropping out.

In fairness, some do rise above their childhood, some just let the fast money enable the darker side of their life. It's a pretty colorblind issue.
It's pretty much always about how you were raised. I bet Brett Favre had both parents around & I bet Michael Vick came from some sort of screwed up household.

If he was shot by an intruder, or if he accidentally shot himself while fighting an intruder, I'll apologize again. If he was wounded while defending his wife's honor, I shall beg for forgiveness. Hell, for all I know he shot himself while cleaning his glock.
However...
If you undertook a statistical analysis of professional athletes in trouble with the law, or shot, or imprisoned, I think the results, well, the results wouldn't surprise anybody. None of this is fresh news.
