listen to your computer right before it restarts. Is the hard drive going "TUNK" or any other weird noises right beforehand?

Well now the computer is really fucked. I ran the VAIO recovery wizard, which basically starts over from the beginning. Now it wont boot, getting an "error loading operating system"
Talked to sony, they said restore the factory bios settings, did that and its still fucked!
Tossing this out the window in about thirty minutes, and buying something new. Sony wants 700 to fix it.
UMMM, got any suggestions for a new computer for me? I use microsoft office, iTunes, photoshop, and the internets. Whats your guys favorites?
Thanks
Devon

Man anything out there works fine. I can say after supporting about everything on the market, Dell stuff is my favorite. At home, I use Sony stuff exclusively. Always have. I've still got a 450 mhz vaio desktop that my little sister uses on the daily and a Pentium 1 laptop that wont die. Would personally recommend just getting a laptop and a docking station and running dual monitors with your current monitor and the laptop screen.

Step 1: burn memtest86 (google for it) onto a CDrom or put it on a floppy and run the memory diagnostic. This will tell you right off the bat if your memory is good or bad.
Step 2: Give us some more details on your hardware specs. You said you got a restart right after you noticed a 49C Core temp. While this isnt bad, it could be relatively high depending on the make/model of your processor.tasty
