my dad was telling me about it yesterday, and they (news/talk radio) were saying that the guys mechanic had given the police his name and info when he saw it on the net. supposedly because he thought the guy was an ass for doing those kind of speeds on a public road. maybe the rich kid was an asshole or screwed over the mechanic in the past??????

Well, RUF and other tuning companies drive there cars in Germany up to those same speeds on open highways to test cars out.. So, I think the road conditions at that time of night are fine and the best way to truly street test cars like that.

Montana. The law read something like "must drive at a reasonable and prudent speed" but no actual speed limit in numbers. Car & Driver had a write up on it a few years ago.

It's all well and good for everyone to call this guy an idiot and act like you're so much better than him, but you know damn well that you drive too fast too, and if your car could do 220mph it would be tempting to see how close you could get to that limit. Show of hands, who here HASN'T seen triple digits at least once? (ETAs and 318s are exempt...) In a car like a lambo 200mph is probably just as achievable as 100mph is in an e30. That said, it was dangerous and not the best of ideas, but still cool in a badass way.

Again, he's a dingus for filming himself and deserves what he gets... However, I live and drive in Atlanta. I was passed by a bike during rush hour traffic doing at least 200Mph. It happens all the time in this city. Glad they were at least doing it late at night.

People die every month (sometimes weeks) in this city. Glad they did it at night and had at least that much sense.
