Repeats, but I'll have to second "No Country for Old Men" and "Eastern Promises" (mostly) here. Also greatly enjoyed "3:10 to Yuma"...Russell Crowe is one of those actors I love to say I hate, but nevertheless wind up liking.

Looking forward to "There Will Be Blood!" too (maybe I should've just copied and pasted Charlie's post) and "Walk Hard." Sooooo tired of all those crap biopics, apologies to the poster who recommended Walk the Line. Those things drive me nuts, but just like I heard Jake Kasdan say, I've seen every one of 'em anyway.

We're coming into Oscar Season here, so the good 'uns should be coming out. "The Diving Bell And The Butterfly," "The Savages," "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford," "In the Valley of Elah..." those are all very well reviewed. Keep an eye on avclub.com, pajiba.com, even rogerebert.com...it really helps to get around all the sludge that's out there.

Or there's always Netflix...get caught up on your Hitchcock and French New Wave!

Requiem for a dream, American History X (Mainly because of how it rationalizes hate crime, which is always unjustified) Fight Club (if you really look into it) Ronin (I need my blow-em-ups like the rest of you) The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Trainspotting, etc.

Every time there is a new post it reminds me of more great movies. Good work

I haven't seen Hot Fuzz or Se7en on the list...

I'd have to say my top five are...

                1. American Beauty
                2. Forest Gump
                3. Almost Famous
                4. Se7en
                And for the slapstick humor
                5. Dumb and Dumber or Hot Fuzz

Enemy at the Gates, From Hell, Notebook, and Gone in 60 Seconds are up there too...but I know I'm always forgetting some

Do not ever see these 2 movies: HotRod and License To Wed.

                  What a waste of time.

Hot Rod was lame as hell. There was really no point.

                            American Gangster was wicked good.
Boondock Saints, Blazing Sadles, Deliverance are very good too.

Indies... anyone watched "The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada"?

Just one example. I used to not like Tommy Lee Jones but he's grown on me.. but not to focus on one movie.

                                You guys have to watch:

City of God (Cidade de Deus) if you haven't
                                Bus 174
                                ...
                                ,,,
and more, memory slips... aight, I'm out to the club...
