A word of caution: in Maryland school bus drives can write your plates down and give you a ticket for disobeying their stop sign, and it is basically an automatic conviction in court. If, of course, they show up to court.

No shit, i'm fairly certain it's against the law EVERYWHERE to disobey a school bus' sign and lights. When i was in High School a kid a grade above me got assraped after simply passing a schoolbus (on a dotted line)

I grew up in a very rural district, the bus stopped at everyones house, BUT you house could be a mile or more away form the last stop.

The thing now is if you have elementry school kids the driver is not to let them out of the bus unless there is a parent or
'approved" adult standing (usually sitting in the car) at the end of the drive way waiting on the kid. Its so they dont get nabbed by the molester while walking to the house or while home alone waiting mom and dad to get home from work.

Shit when I got home I had chores to do an lawn to mow (when it was that time) an my parents didnt get home till long after we did.

It just a bunch of CYA so the district dose not get suied by parents for the kid getting molested by mr rogers down the block.

hahaha, that's another thing I find ridiculous. Not only do the kids now days get dropped off in their own driveway, but mommy is always waiting in the grand caravan with Dora The explorer playing to take them 30 feet to the door.

I'm taking a nutrition class right now (i'm a certified chef) and If kids in todays age don't get off their asses 50% of them will die of obesity related issues. and the chances of being morbidly obese is 1/3.

When I was doing christmas shopping just a month back, the mall security guards were riding these:


So now, not only do they get paid to WALK around the mall all day. they pretty much get paid to do absolutely nothing while riding a 6k dollar scooter. And they were wearing helmets. Absolutely ridiculous. When did exercise become uncool?

A couple years ago and a few miles away from my house, a kid was kidnapped while on his way home after being dropped off by the bus at a bus stop. They'd drop a bunch of kids off at one corner and then they'd all go their respective houses.

Also, it's stupid to cut off a school bus and it's illegal. Kids will cross in front of the bus to get to their house if it's on the other side of the street. That's why traffic stops both ways when a school bus comes to a stop.

I just found a route to work that avoids the school bus route. Mostly because that's the, you know, smart thing to do.

Back when I last rode a school bus about 6 years ago they dropped my off 3 blocks from my house and made me fucking walk home.

Whenever I see a school bus in my neighborhood I just take another route out of there, no big deal. Do you guys get so lost in your own neighborhoods that you have to take the same route that follows the bus every single time?

You can blame schools too, more worried about feelings and self esteem. We won't hold your kid back, it will hurt his emotional stability, instead we'll push him along and pass him even though he DOESN'T KNOW A FUCKING THING. They're more worried about morale then achievement. Fuck that. Today, if you simply attend school, you will pass. You don't have to try. At all. THAT is why a high school diploma is fucking worthless.

I think I am right at the edge of the last generation of kids that actually had any responsibilities and was not babied every second of my life. I started kindergarten in a town with less than 4000 people. The bus would go down the main road dropping people off at the ends of the residential streets and we would walk from there.

You didn't have to walk/ride a beat ass bike to school. You were babied, just like the rest of us.

I rode bike to school by choice (a bike that I bought, with allowance money, from doing CHORES). I think it was only ~3 miles though. It was fucking cold in the winter...

Do chores even exist anymore? Or do kids just ask for money now? I know cars are handed out. What ever happened to getting a job and buying a car? I got a job when I was 15 so I could buy a car when I was 16. Now you get a job when your 18 to upgrade from the brand new car your parents bought you when you were 16. Fuck.
