    There Will Be Blood

I just saw this movie, and I thought it was great. It was a bit long, but it was very well written and directed. And there are such great messages in it.

Has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

For those of you who have not heard of it, it's based on the novel "Oil!" by Upton Sinclair that was about the harvesting of oil in the early 20th century.

I thought this movie was pretty incredible. it took me a little while to get into it, and Paul Dano's character pissed me off, but Daniel Day-Lewis's performance was, as one critic put it "beyond praise". I'm not sure i have ever seen such an intense performance, i was really impressed. I kind of want to read "Oil!" now, but i get the impression that the movie is very loosely based on the book, although i suppose the book could be excellent even if it is very different. It was also strong aside from the acting, the cinematography was excellent. I actually enjoyed it so much I want to go see it again.

I can't fucking WAIT to go see this movie. Daniel Day Lewis's character looks like one of the most ruthless bastards in cinematic history, and I LOVE characters like that.

What is the overall story? I still can't figure it out. I want to see it though so I guess they did a good job ;)

No Country for Old Men was fucking amazing. I saw it a few weeks ago, and downloaded it the other night, I've watched it two more times. The character of Cigur was sooooo well written, and that actor pulled it off perfectly. I love the Coen Brothers. The greatest thing about that movie was that it really harked back to their older crime stories like Blood Simple and Miller's Crossing.

Watch the first 1/3 of the movie, looks promising I'm waiting for the movie to pick up. I left off when the lead character was talking to the town about the new road going through the town and "Eli" I believe asked about the church.

Eli is the antagonist in this movie.

Don't get me wrong, the movie is very loosely based on the book. Actually, I think it's based off of just the first 150 or so pages. And in the book, the main character is the oil tycoon's son who is sympathetic to the oil field workers.

The movie was actually called Oil! originally, but it was decided that that name would give the false impression that the movie was supposed to be a depiction if what happened in the book.

The more I think about it, the more I like the movie. And for those of you who like Radiohead, the entire score for the movie was done by Johnny Greenwood (the guitarist). And it's very different. Go see this shit.

I have been waiting to see this movie for what seems like an eternity. I had planned on seeing it the 26th of December but it ended up only being released in a few theaters. Only this weekend did it finally come to a theater nearby.

Still not entirely sure I understand the message of the movie... very well done and acted, but once it was done the entire theater stood up and said "what the fuck?"

                              +1 I think.

Well acted, but again... I didn't feel like we got anywhere with the progression of time, we just see the dood is a wierd oil prick rich jerk guy. Love that bowling alley, hehe. I like what happens with Eli's confession tho, tee hee.
