Well acted, but again... I didn't feel like we got anywhere with the progression of time, we just see the dood is a wierd oil prick rich jerk guy. Love that bowling alley, hehe. I like what happens with Eli's confession tho, tee hee.

Really? You couldn't find multiple themes in the movie?

The main themes I took from it involved family, greed and religion. The main theme having to do with greed, and how it can ruin family and religion. Did you not see Daniel's relentless desire for more oil and more money? He gave up his adopted son HW because his deafness stood in the way of his ability to acquire more oil and more money. And in the end of the movie, when Eli comes to Daniel's house, he denounces God simply because of his desire for more money.

I don't know about you guys, but that movie seemed to have very distinct themes, and it spoke in volumes to me.

Mr. Anderson: How did you like it? Was it long enough? How did you like the score? I felt the music in the movie was perfect.

I totally agree with your analysis, I saw those things as well... it just didn't sit 100% right with me for some reasons I am still pondering... not the messages and themes, but the movie as a whole. :P

I loved everything about it, especially the part when after he gets Eli to denounce God, he just says "that area has already been drilled". And the milkshake thing was fucking awesome. The part when he disowned H.W. was sad though, but crucial to his character. And of course, Daniel Day Lewis was incredible, as always. Perfectly acted and totally convincing.

I was wondering what would happen at the end to give the audience this reaction...

then I was like "oh I see"

Amazing movie, I could definently feel what was happening as the storyline progressed.
