I don't know if any of you watched the universe series on history channel but everything on dark energy and matter is insanely trippy.

He's a great author that has the ability to take extremely abstract concepts like string theory and put them in laymen's terms. Highly recommended. Recently, scientists took a photo of the oldest galaxy ever seen -- 13 billion years old. Keep in mind that the universe is 13.7 billion years old +/- 200 million years. Haha, and fundamentalist christians think the earth is a few thousand years old.
Will look for this book. Astronomy has always interested me, since early childhood.

Not to start anything against fundamentalists :D

I think I may have stumbled upon a meteorite fall site. I am awaiting authentication from the Smithsonian, ASU, and UCLA. Ill share more soon, unless any of you have a lab.

Being as I am a Christian, it's interesting on the whole "extraterrestrial life" thing. The Bible doesn't say God made any other "life", but at the same time it's not saying He didn't either.

Not that I want to turn this thread into a theology debate, but God is also a human concept/idea/belief.

Who knows what other life on any of the trillions of other possibly inhabitable planets may believe!

I agree. God is just being faithful there is something else after death and some more..... Again just my opinion tho.

I have umpteen books sitting on the shelf on this stuff dateing back to 97 I havent even cracked open, I used to get the latest an greatest in physics, astronomy, quantum theory, from my mom for bdays an xmass.

thanks M42Technik, I think I might just go crack open one of them, an see what I can learn

It might be interesting to start a "what happens after you die" thread. You'll get the obvious people who will say "nothing" and may be right, but that's the easy way out.

It's funny you say this because this came up the other day after that "UFO" was over Dallas or whatever and a ton of "normal" people saw it. I made a comment that there are millions upon millions of other planets in the universe that could sustain life and to think that we are the only form of life/intelligent life in the universe is beyond ignorant and arrogant. The guy consequently got all butt hurt... it's stuff like this that makes me think organized religion is "drinking the kool-aid" to a certain degree. There may be a God, but that has nothing to do with life on other planets - they're out there.
