Professional experience says it was a hit and run. I am not however sure what hit your car but I am working on a quick illustration of how it went down. Dont rule the psycho out as the person who hit it. I need a picture of the right front and left rear tire and the asphalt underneath said tires to be sure (scrub marks). Dont be silly and jump to conclusions the lack of paint transfer is odd but not that unusual.

        That sucks big time.

But in reality, the only thing you can do is:

        1) Be thankful the damage wasn't worse
        2) Fix it and move on
        3) Make sure you get rid of any negative Karma

That last one was a joke!

Here is what I can see in your pics

I am unsure if you had ant front end damage before this but if you did not here is what I see. The initial impact came to the front feder just above the bumper, causing the body wrinkle and the impact crease. Also it tore away the fender from the mounts (that is way beyond human force). Then the person pulled away and backed into the car again more likely than not in an attempt to make a hasty get away (drunk). The second impact carried the pressure from the fender accross the body gap and contacted the door skin causing the wrinkle inthe door skin (very easy to wrinkle the door skin)

          Good luck.

You are correct about this scuff or transfer it appears downward in nature but sometimes that is caused by the shape of the body panel and entry and exit angle of the impact. If you scrapped the steel you would probably find clearcoat on the steel and the paint can be matched to a vehicle manufacturer.

Tire scrub pictures. Pictures of the tires as they sit and the asphalt under them would be super helpful. Your culprit may have been caught exiting the parking lot by a camera.

i must applaud your detective skills

              HOWEVER i am convinced otherwise

the bare paint on the fender was from a pre existing incident that occured waaaaaaaaay back when i first got my car.

I apologize for any confusion i may have caused by leaving out this information.

I guess im so used to seeing the damage that it didnt occur to me to mention it. Again my apologies.

Here is a rough sketch of the area where my car was parked. Keep in mind that those handicapped parking spots are seldom used. I also highly doubt that there was any activity over the weekend as there were no events on campus during the weekend so im ruling that out.

the burgundy box is the area of damage

That makes a lot more sense. We thought you started with a pristine panel. I'd agree that the areas you're talking about were probably caused by a bat or something similar.

Well knowing that. I would say you are looking for a Golf club I would say driver. It was heads up on one and heads down on the other. Sorry for the long drawn out explanation for circumstances you were already aware of.

I have gone through similar events in my life and it is always hard to turn the other cheek, but since your car is obviouly known to this person or persons then if you retailliate then your car/ you are a sitting duck for further escalation of vandalism. Do you really want to be in the same circumstances with worse damage in a few weeks or months? Hit the breakers, pull a fender, sand , prime, paint, blend , and bolt it up.

                          Its the wise move!

My first instinct would be to retaliate also. But as I get old now, I realize that it really won't get you anywhere. Normally, it is the person who is retaliating who gets caught, and in trouble.

Though, if this said chick wants you for some reason and this is her way of telling you, then get with her, and pound the living shit out of her. Make her sore, and then as soon as you nut, just put your clothes on and leave, never to be heard from again. Wear a rubber and/or don't blow in her though. You might get the I'm pregnant trick.

Your welcome. I just have the wisdom of handling it both ways. The retailliation method was oh so fun at first. Involved breakage of lots of personal property of the persons and some bashing of humans. In the end it was the total wrong way to handle it. Granted lots of satisfaction and adrenalin during the time it was happening, but then the world creeps back in and one must deal with what they are responsible for.
In the end it was the WAY wrong way to go.

The only time to retailliate is if there is some random person that you would just like to fuck with. Otherwise, anyone looking in at the situation will realize there is motive to be considered. Who had the most to gain in the situation? Who had the most to loose? In those situations it becomes just a numbers game. The cops or govt or whomever just goes down a list and asks those questions. Then they round up the suspects and try and disqulify as many as possible. The one that is left is the perpetrator. Its math applied to real world situations. No trick to that.

For instance, you retailliate on this person (girl) that you think may have harmed your vehicle. You think you get away with it. GREAT! Right? Unfortunatley,NO! Now this chick is singing the same song you sung to the cops that respond. The cops ask, Hmmm, maam can you think of anyone with a "motive" (theres the word!) that would do this. Gal thinks for a while and says yeah, there is this guy (YOU) and perhaps a few others. Disquailification stage starts and they come looking for you. Even being questioned by the cops is a hasle cause they are always just looking for you to screw up with what you say or something unrelated (drugs, alcohol, possible stolen property, etc, etc..)that may be out of place. Why subject oneself to the added scrutiny? Would it not be nice to maintain some degree of privacy and just go on and live your life?

Over 200-300 dollars? Shit! You will one day look back on it and think , "Damn, I remember this crazy bitch that did ... yada, yada, yada...

Trust me I have had many of those moments and Im not over the hill by any means.

So try hard to take it in stride and realize that life is full of Hills and Valleys. There is a Hill just up ahead. Look for it!

You could also throw yourself on the mercy of an autobody shop by telling them exactly what happened and asking for a real deal. Never hurts to ask right? Or high school auto body shops are a possilbity for a cheap , but decent fix.

Things to consider. In the end these are just words and the actions are up to you.
