    New wrinkle in ebay scams?

I won a set of Infinity Perfect 6.5, paid immediately, got an email Friday saying it will ship Tuesday.

    Today I get this:

I closed my paypal account and their policy is to hold all funds for 6 months. Not being able to access my money I can refund the payment and you can send me a money order at which time I will immediately ship the speakers. Let me know and I'll give you my home address. Thanks.

Am I wrong but if he can access the account to refund can't he get his money & shouldn't he send my damn speakers?

My reply was just refund my money as I would not have bid with a money order only policy.

Give him 24 hours to refund and if not, paypal claim.

I would be almost willing to bet if you did send him a money order that his address would be in Nigeria !! F***ing EBAY is getting out of control with scams it seems...

Good Luck getting a resolution in your favor, but I would go ahead and contact EBAY and Paypal ASAP.

I am going to PM you with some information

Contact the seller directly though ebay messaging and see what's going on. This sounds like a variation of the western union second chance scam.

Same shit with craigslist. They are all in some middle eastern country, buying the product (computer in my case), for their relative in Africa. Fucking ridiculous.

I called ebay they say most likely the account is hacked (after saying it was a spoof email)

              I hate ebay.

I bought a set of SK wrenches on fri night, got an email sat morning that said I I could buy them at the last bid I placed because the bider did not pay. I won the fucking auction I paid and should see them tuesday and have a valid tracking #.

I agree Its getting way out of control something needs to be done, but short of shutting it all down, it will only continue to get worse.

Well only go to ebay sites or Paypal sites on your own. Never use a link sent. Even if it looks like ebay or Paypal.

                    Exactly.

It's easy to verify second chance offers by logging into your Ebay account and checking to see if the message you got in email, is also on your Ebay messages. Also, avoid any email asking you to finish the transaction outside of ebay (ie the Western Union scam)

The way this played out is the seller says his paypal was robbed & he lost thousands.

Since I refused to send the M.O. he filed a non payment claim saying I decided I didn't want them.

I said no and he lost. He has started the process to refund my money and I am debating leaving him neg fb & filing a non selling seller claim.

I am leaning towards just leaving it alone.

Woah... you CALLED ebay? I had to wade through automated chat rooms to get my situations with a scam worked with... and even then it was like talking to a brick wall. I didn't think you could actually speak with an ebay rep.

Yes I did but same brick wall thing. All they agreed to do was send an email with directions to what to do, which they did not send.Their customer service is atrocious.

Surely you don't think those massive fees go into customer service, in any way.
