Owner of Bahn Brenner Motorsport totals Lotus Exige

I don't know how many of you guys are familiar with Bahn Brenner Motorsports, but they're a pretty well known VW tuner, located here in Bend, Oregon.

    Bahn Brenner Motorsport BBM

A few days ago, the owner was out driving his blue Exige, and spectacularly destroyed it. He was driving home Friday, hit a patch of cinder going around a corner, spun out, went over the median and wrapped it around a tree. It took 2 hours to cut him out of it and he's pretty fucked up. 2 broken vertebrae, ruptured spleen, internal bleeding, and plenty of other stuff, he's in the ICU currently. Here's a couple of pics:

    Here's the before:

    And the aftermath.

I guess the VW community are pretty torn up about it, it's not known currently whether or not he's expected to make a full recovery. I have 3 friends locally that work for BBM. He's currently awake and able to sit up, but broke ALL of the ribs on his right side and punctured a lung, and lost over 2 litres of blood from internal bleeding.

            That sucks.

            Hope he gets well soon.

Is there a special non e30 r3v category for this?

Ouch. That car is like a gokart as it is.

How did he wreck? Was he on a track? Street?

Glad he survived. Hope he recovers well.

But "hit a patch of cinder going around a corner" tells me he was driving too fast for road conditions, too fast for his own skill or failed to keep his eyes on the road and adjust to a hazard.

Lets face it, 99% of single car accidents are the result of driver error on some level.
