Anyone use Adderall? Legally that is

A couple years ago I was going to a counselor. Well I asked him why my mind is all over the place. He told me I was describing ADD.

I was 18, so he gave me the choice to take Ritalin or not. I took it. Made me feel weird but I found myself focusing in class far more easily. It had side effects, no doubt, but it was great for my grades! I made all A's for the semester I took it. Then I got with this chick and ended up skipping most of the last half of the year anyway.

Does anyone here use Adderall for ADD purposes and like it? The ritalin was too weird for me...

I need something for use during school days...

I used to take the time released stuff in High School. I went to a boarding school and smoked a lot of pot (along with lots of other stuff), but I still maintained good grades. That was until the 2nd half of my junior year when I skipped most of my classes to play beer pong and party. It also made me chain smoke like crazy.

I do. I take the time release (XR). You only take it once a day, which is a plus. Before I was put on it I couldn't focus on anything for longer than like 3 minutes before getting side tracked. The only thing I don't like about the Adderall, and is something you sort of get used to, is that for a couple of hours after taking it in the morning is that you can feel your heart beating, which I have been told by my doctor is a side effect of the amphetamine and can be controlled by trying a lower dose. I've had it prescribed to me for about 4 years now.
And like Ben said, if you use nicotine, in any way shape or form, it will exacerbate the want for it more.

I think it will help with what i need.

i wonder if you have to be evaluated or something. I have have not been to the doctor that prescribed Ritalin to me in over 3 years.

The title of your post says all I need to know about the drug. If it's a prescription drug that has a street value it's a - well you know! See a mental health professional that is certified in your state to prescribe medications for the treatment of mental illness. Do you have a mental illness? You gotta be crazy to even ask here.

I have a mental illness. I am not asking for anyone to give it to me. I am just asking if Adderall is good, as Ritalin was not.

It might do you good to be on it too...

I am just saying that after being the forth post from what the OP was asking and you could not keep focus on the question at hand...

                ;) :D

from 2nd grade to 5th i was on personality robbing Ritalin, when i was off of it, my concentration sucked! then in 6th they put me on something else that was time released, and didn't turn me into a zombie. the best part about it was no more trips to the nurse at lunch to get my "spaz pills" (of which i was not, but kids are shitty) and after i started 8th grade i was didn't seem to need to take it anymore and was free to be my nutty self. i can't remember the exact name, but it started with a U i think....if that helps.

Do you think if someone filled your prescription with sugar pills that were the same color and shape as Adderall and told you they were Adderall, and you didn't know it, they'd have the same effect as the real thing? I'll bet you anything they would.

I disagree, with a drug like adderall there is a pronounced effect, and I doubt it could be construed as some sort of a placebo. Adderall is an amphetamine, and no doubt a sugar pill will jack you up for a couple hours, but then you'll crash. And if you have a legit ADD problem, you'll be scatter brained the whole time anyway. While Adderall (XR) is released throughout the day, and has a different mental effect. To achieve this effect its composition is similar to speed, and that's why people get addicted to it.
But yeah, sugar pill = fail.

                            i agree.

Mr. Anderson, I normally would be on your side. Pills are not good for solving problems. But Ritalin did work, but had undesired side affects.

The only time i take anything is anti-biotics for sinus infection, but my attention span is shit for studying and I cannot keep making bad grades!

"There's something about engines that calms me down."

But really, try to vary your routine, get more excercise or eliminate some of the distractions when you need to get work done.

Adderall works for people I've known but in the end you really have to want to get things done. Of course our country has turned into the "I'm ________. I'll just take some pills." I'm not saying that is you, but too often people take the easy way out.

My suggestion would be talk with your doctor obviously, but I wouldn't want to be on it for a long period of time.
